I did too, must've been Test 1 instead of Test 2 or something.
Anybody else find this versioning strange?

Dude, for free, they can number it in sanskrit, as far as I am concerned.
But, yes, it is odd.

Not receiving text messages?
I just d/l'd 1.02b and installed it -- and I really like this interface BUT it seems that while Pointui is running I cannot receive text messages. Has anyone else experienced this? It's not a notification error -- when I send texts to myself (either via an email to <my number>@vztext.com or using my handset or VZW's website) the messages just don't make it. The VZW website confirms delivery to the handset but no notification comes and there is no trace of the message in any of my messaging folders.
Once I kill Pocketui and go "native" the messages come in fine.
I'd love to use this app, but not at the expense of messaging.
Also I noticed that the fresh 1.02b CAB install does not seem to include the update manager; I'll try the ActiveSync install when I get home this evening to see if that might be the problem.

Update: I must have had Test 1 originally (from the website). Test 2 has fixed the text messaging problem as well as the update manager.

Glad to hear you figured it out. I've never had those problems, so I would've had no idea what to do lol.

I'm curious, with this interface are people still running spb pocket plus as well as other programs? I recently took off spb phone suite because I am using the HTC home theme, and pocket plus could also do most of what phone suite is capable of doing.

I'm running pocket plus simply to get the battery meter at the top of all of my windows. Anybody know of a free alternative?

I'm running PocketPlus right now, but solely for the soft-reset option. I'd drop it in a heartbeat if I had a free alternative. Everything I've tried tends to crash:
Task manager menu « onlydarksets
Anyone have any alternatives?

onlydarksets, couldn't you just use the soft reset button by the keyboard?
Well when they come out with a final version in black I'm definately going for it, just curious as to what else other people are using

If I can reach it, I can. However, on the train, it's often shoulder-to-shoulder or I'm holding on with one hand. I like having a one-handed option for doing a soft-reset if things start going flaky.
Plus, it just seems better to do a software soft-reset instead of a hardware soft-reset. I have never read that anywhere, though - am I wrong?

Other apps
onlydarksets, QuickMenu has a soft reset menu option (not the same as a button, I know) and it's free.
eleazar, there's an app called VistaHide Battery Gauge -- I can't recall where I found it, but probably PPCFreeware.com. It's a battery gauge across the top of the taskbar which I think looks nicer than PocketPlus'.
Between QuickMenu (close button, cascading start menu), VistaHide (battery guage), AE Button+ (button remapping) and HTC Home (launcher, weather, quickdial) I've replaced everything I needed from PocketPlus for free.

I don't know about that, but you can also hold down the power button to do a reset. It doesn't come back on automatically, but just needs another press of the power button.

Thanks! That is perfect. Does anyone know how I can add it to my phone's "start-up" routine? (ie. so it'll run when I turn the phone on). It doesn't install, it's a standalone .exe file.
Edit: Nevermind, I found the startup folder in /Windows/Startup, so I just created a shortcut there. Thanks again for the program name nlarson.
Also, while we're on the topic of pocket plus features, does anyone know of a freeware app that will close programs when the x is clicked? I forgot that pocket plus was doing that for me. It'd be great if I could use the minimize "swipe" as well, so I have the option of closing or minimizing. I'll do some searching on my own in a bit. Studying for a calculus test now. Thanks again guys.

Tman and inclosex are very good free pieces of software which gives you the soft reset option and the x to close apps option.

Bah, my Home (1.02b black) just went screwy. The digital clock doesn't show (the date does,) and analog clock shows some mystery time (doesn't even match my visiting location.) If left running it tries to update about every 3-5 minutes unprompted. Anyone else have this problem? I am trying to think if I did a reset amid a product update thinking it was locked up. When I get home (deleted the .cab) I will attempt a reinstall. *sigh, trots off to the PointUI forums*

I haven't encountered those issues specifically. Last week my PointUI install went screwy to where if I had a call come in the lock would be over the caller ID, so I could never tell who was calling. I am pretty sure this is because I restored a backup from sprite backup earlier that day. So, something wasn't copied back correctly. Needless to say, I did a hard reset and set everything back up from scratch (minus things I could restore like sms, email, phone alarm settings).
One suggestion would be to download the Test 2 release and copy it over, you might not need to reinstall then. Just a thought.
EDIT: lol, not 2 hours after I posted that reply, my PointUI install went all screwy. The time randomly changed to 1am and has been counting on from their. Then, the clock disappeared, so it's only displaying "Friday, February 29th 2008". I am not having the update every 3-5minutes issue, but I have closed pointUI for the time being.
I just checked PointUI's forums and it seems everyone is having the same issues. It must be some sort of leap year bug. I'm just going to leave PointUI closed until tomorrow, I'm assuming it'll either fix itself by then or they will have issued a fix.

MarineDawg -- mine did too, and I think that has to do with the leap year. I seem to remember seeing that it was a known bug; I'm waiting to see if it fixes itself tomorrow.

Getting the same problem. Digital clock doesn't show, analog will show but shows random times. Once someone figures this thing out please post. Thanks.
PS: That patch that is posted on this forum: Pointui.com • View topic - Hardware Keys Temporary Fix
.. is this work for 1.02 also?
Because I know that when I close programs its just minimizing.
