WM 6.5 Apps

I've installed Vanilla 4.2 on my Omnia and looks great so far.
I used to have CC20 (WM 6.1) with SPB Mobile Shell.

Does anyone have WM6.5 rom and suggested apps for Omnia?

I currently use Google apps (gmail sync, map, youtube, etc) on it.

But, I am hesitant to install SPB Mobile Shell 3 since it's designed for WM 6 or 6.1.

And other apps too.. Are they compatible?

Right now, I do not see Media explorer which shows thumbnail view of your pix and video. I wonder if there's better version of it for WM 6.5.

Any other great apps for WM 6.5?

Thanks,

I'm running MS3.5 with WM 6.5 and it plays beautifully. Wouldn't use my Omnia without MS3. . . . . . . All my apps work with 6.5: Copilot Live 8; PDANET; MyMobiler; OZMail; GPSGate; etc., etc., etc.

I agree, ms3, PI9, touchpal, audibleair, mobipocket. These are the ones I use most consistently. However, I have not had problem with very many. Just a couple older applications that were just too old.

Speaking of old applications; I have these working fine:
notem, total commander, superlist pro.

MS 3.5 supports WM 6.5

Mobile Shell 3.5 supports WM 6.5:

SPB Mobile Shell » Pocket PC Software » SPB Software

The only older app that I've had a problem with is Spb Pocket Plus. That's not listed as supported WM 6.5.

Then again, most of us are running cooked version of WM 6.5, so there is no guarantee that an app listed as supporting WM 6 .5 will run on our particular recipe.

Where do you get the 6.5 ROM again?

Hi, Brian

I installed Vanilla 2.0 over CF03. I have been too lazy to try a higher version. Several things about WM 6.5 cooked ROM vs WM 6.1. You have less free memory than with Adrynalyne's WM 6.1 cooked ROM. You get the advantage of somewhat more finger-friendly WM interface, e.g. the Windows messaging application. But with Vanilla 2.0 alignment has been cruddy for some applications and doing a screen alignment hasn't helped much. So keep your CF03 ROM upgrade handy in case you want to go back!
