Omnia bricked (?)

Hello everyone.
I've been searching throught this forum for answer to my problem, but found none.

This is what happend to my Omnia recently:

Yesterday I installed g-alarm software, as the built-in alarm was too simple for me. For past few days I've been charging my Omnia with US-PC cabel (if this changes anything).

When I was going to bed my battery was at about 20%.
When I woke up, the Omnia was turned off. I thought it was simply battery's fault. But I tried recharging and.. nothing happens.

Only the power button on the top glows red (during recharging), but that's all.
I cannot connect it to PC as the phone must be turned on.
I tried to soft reset phone, but all I get is Omnia logo and immediately afterwards the phones dies again.

I did not upgrade my software or anything like that lately. Only installed this alarm if that's the case.

Long story short: What should I do to repair my phone? Hard reset? (if yes then how?)
Remember that I cannot turn my phone ON, so all settings issues are unaccessible to me.

Do you know the battery is good? I checked one of mine that is about 60-80% charged and it reads 3.9 volts between the two outermost +/- terminals. So if you have access to a voltmeter (digital multimeter), I'd check that the battery has a charge. If the battery charge is very low, the phone refuses to work to preserve what's in RAM. Did you use your Samsung A/C charger? If you knew somebody with an Omnia, you could try their battery.

The phone is less than a year old so the simplest thing might just be go into a Verizon store. If the phone died, you should get a free replacement (may be refurbished).

Thank you for your response.
I'm currently not in my hometown, so I don't have access to voltmeter. Even my recharger is not 'original' as I had to buy one here ( I left old one at home).

I wanted to avoid sending it to service, but it looks like it's the only choice..
Too bad
