saying goodbye to Omnia

I've had the phone since March and have generally not thought it to be a terrible phone but the keyboard is just not cutting it for me anymore. In portrait mode the letters Q, A, and Z don't work anymore. I did a hard reset and that didn't fix it so I called Verizon and they are replacing the device. I'm going to a non-touch screen phone this time, HTC Ozone. I can run Slingplayer, corporate email, and WmWifiRouter on it so that should be good enough for me. Wanted to thank everyone for the support they give that is invaluable.

I hear ya. I think I may be jumping ship on winmo all together once the Droid comes out. I'm sick of resistive screens. My ZuneHD has spoiled me with capacitative multitouch goodness. Unless I hear news of the HTC HD2 coming to VZW in the next month (the news part, not necessarily the phone arriving right away) I think I'll hit up the Droid.

I switched over to the Ozone on Friday and I won't look back. The Omnia had a ton of features and bells and whistles that I liked a lot like TV output, FM radio, etc. The Ozone just plain works with everything I need it to do. Direct push Exchange email is solid. Slingplayer is flawless and works better and faster than it did on the Omnia. WMWifiRouter needed a .cab file of drivers to make it work properly but once I installed that it was good to go. My ipod Touch gets 1.2MB down and 500K upload tethered wirelessly and same with the laptop.

The drawback of the omnia was purely lack of keyboard. It just wasn't for me. I am not crazy about the ipod touch's keyboard either but I seem to be better at that than I ever was with the Omnia. My signal is much better with the Ozone now too, have a bar or two in places I didn't have them with the Omnia.

@OWUaaronTSi - you aren't the first person to complain about the screen on a mobile device. I have a few friends who have the same gripes with a lot of their phones too (not neccessarily Omnias).
