Ringtone problem. Help.

Want to add ringtone to Omnia. New with current firmware. I found what I wanted on internet in form of MP3 file and transferred the files to "My Ringtone" folder on Omnia using active sync. I went into phone and selected one of the new ringtones and it would play when I previewed it. After this the phone would not ring at all. I deleted the new ringtones and selected one of the original ones and still would not ring. When calling the phone it would go directly into voice mail. I tried several soft resets and still no ring. The speaker icon at the top of the display looked different than usual but I checked all the settings and the speaker was not muted. It took a hard reset to fix this. What is my problem?

I've always moved the file to my storage card, found it using the WM File Explorer, right click (tap and hold) on the file, then pick the popup option "Set As Ringtone" Automatically moves a copy to My Ringtones folder, leaving the original behind. I always use a .WAV file so I've never tried it with MP3's. (should work, I see my cooked ROM has some MP3's the chef put in that folder!)
