Cleaning Up My Storage Might Help You Too

Just passing on a tip that might help someone...

Have had my Omnia since early December. I've installed and uninstalled dozens of apps dozens of times, flashed and reflashed many, many times. Lately my Omnia has been acting flakier and flakier as time has gone by. Apps mysteriously ending and returning me to MS3. GPS having trouble locking occassionally.

The tough part is that it's been hell to debug since the flakiness has been so random. I tried various ROMs, tried running only minimum apps, etc. Some times a soft reset would get things to work better but some times not. Nothing made sense to point to the cause of my trouble. So random that there was nothing much to even post in an attempt to fond help.

I came across a thread (You HAVE to delete your "My Storage" - PPCGeeks) where folks reported similar symptoms. They realized that, even after flashing/hard resetting the device, My Storage always remained intact with what was there before. They found that by biting the bullet and resetting My Storage and re-installing apps and restoring data from a PC backup, that their Omnias were "reborn".

I did it and after 48 hours I can report that my flakiness seems to have disappeared (knock on wood). No more apps closing themselves. GPS locks are consistently quick.

Your mileage may vary but if you have been experiencing similar symptoms, you may want to try it. Anyone with a PC knows a good cleaning does wonders.

Easy alternative

Or you could just brick your Omnia and get a refurb with a clean My Storage. Saves all the muss and fuss about what to backup!

Seriously, great suggestion and I will have to give it a try.

I saw this post on PPCGeeks also, and mine does some of the spontaneous closing etc. I backed up and copied and it's hardresetting as we speak. I hope I have a good outcome...stay tuned
