GPS RECEIVER and upgraded Omnia

I've got a globalsat bt359 bluetooth gps receiver and I've been trying to connect it to my omnia with bluetooth and try google maps or bing with it, but I cann't get it to connect. It works just fine with my laptop and microsoft streets and trip 2009. Anyone have any thoughts and or success using a independent gps receiver???

You probably need to set the receiver to the right Com Port on the Omnia.

Considering the Omnia has built in aGPS and full GPS, why would you even bother?

The independent receiver is by far a better receiver then that built into the omnia, in my house hooked up to the laptop I get 7 to 9 sat. any ideas how to get the right com port?

I used to use a Holux GPSSlim236 external receiver. It came with a utility program called GPS Viewer that would scan your ports and find the one that is listening to the receiver then you could connect and view the satellites and get other info.

Google gps viewer utility and I think you can find a copy you can download and try.

Do you need to set an outgoing COM port on the Omnia under Bluetooth settings? I do to use my BT338.
