Any information on the OmniaPro? Slide out keyboard as well as a touchscreen one or only the slider useable? I've gotten used to my slider and prefer it over the touch only of a few of my coworkers that have the Storm and iPhone types.
My NE2 window opens up at the end of the month.

Big full page ad in today's Sunday paper by Verizon. Lots of phones on sale for the weekend of Aug 21st thru 23rd including the HTC Ozone. The Omnia II (and the Omnia I, too) are not to be seen anywhere in the ad.
Spoke with Verizon sales support last week as I returned my wife's Blackberry Tour since she liked my Omnia more. VZW said they expect Omnia II out around the holidays. My guess is it will be out next month. Still getting the Omnia for my wife as the price is pretty good with a VZW 2yr contract price.

sorry, which holidays did they say? Christmas, or next month as in September? Looks like Aug. 23rd isn't going to happen, right? No word from Verizon or Best buy yet, and it's getting very close.
Q. In which countries will the Omnia II be available?
A. The Samsung Omnia II has already and successfully been launched in three countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam.
The fourteen countries that will see the launch of the Samsung Omnia II during August are: Philippines, Thailand, Netherlands, Turkey, UAE, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Chile, Colombia, and Australia!
More info to come...
Q. Will current users of Omnia II be able to upgrade to WM 6.5?
A. Yes. After the official launch of WM OS 6.5, current Omnia II users will be able to download from the comfort of their homes. No need to visit your local service centre.
"UPDATE: Samsung Mobile has officially announced that the Omnia II will be available with Verizon Wireless later this year. At this time, we don’t have information on availability dates, pricing or final specs for the U.S. version of the Omnia II, but check back for updates!"
Though it states on the SamsungMobile website that it will be an exclusive with VZW initially, there is still no firm date being released. It also looks like the OmniaPro B7610 (development name Louvre) will NOT be an offering from VZW in the US. VZW (just my WAG) probably figures the HTC Touch Pro fulfills the niche for a touch screen with a slider keyboard sufficiently. I disagree. The HTC isn't a PDA/Smartphone where the OmniaPro is.
Looks like I will have to settle for the Omnia II if I can ever find out when it will be available. My NE2 window just opened up today and it would be great if I could upgrade before it closes. My XV6800 is beat to hell and needs to be retired.

Just to add to the rumor mill; here is a further update, just minutes ago, from someone else who really isn't sure. (So why am I posting? 'Cause I want one too!)
"I just called Samsung Mobile, I was just told that Samsung has released the Omnia 2 phones to Verizon,Samsung said it's up to Verizon to release the phones. That's the only hold up."
Ok, so now what? I'll guess middle of next week!
EDIT: I'm thinking maybe sooner... Their website is all messed up like they are working on something. Links and flyouts are not working right. I know they should have that all done behind the scenes, but even the option chooser to sort thru the phones is gone. hmmm....
My NE2 window opened today as mentioned. I just got off the phone with Customer Service as I made an inquiry. All they would say is that if the Samsung Mobile website said it would be Q3 2009, then I have more information that their telephone reps have (or are authorized to give out). Al the guy would say is Q3, which ends at the end os September.
There is speculation on another website or two that 09.09.09 si a target date, but it is pure speculation as no sources were quoted nor referenced. That would be nice, but as the NE2 window doesn't close once it opens (I found that out today too) then the other rumors about a Holiday release would still mean I would be able to benefit from any promotionals offered at release time.
Waiting impatiently..................

Since editing m previous post seems to be causing IE to lock up, here is another tidbit I read this morning.
The August dates reporting Best Buy's availability of the devices was misreported. It was actually the "shipping date". Most shipments have been sent and received. However, they (Best Buy) are not authorized to actually make them available until the carrier (VZW) say so. IIRC (I have been all over the web in the last few days), it was a statement from Samsung, though I do not recall where I read it. I would link it if I could find it again.
However, this would add some substance to the speculated 09.09.09 date mentioned elsewhere. If they are in the stores 2-3 weeks before, then they will be on hand when the green flag is waved. It would also allow time for slow shipments to catch up and arrive at the outlets prior to release day.
Just a WAG on my part as nobody who knows is saying anything, or just claiming not to know. Sometime before 1 October.

then it would appear to me that i need only to make a trip to best buy and ask some of the high school kids employed there something like, "so when are you releasing that inventory of omnia 2's which are on that shelf back there in the back room."
HTC, Nokia and Samsung have announced rollouts for several new models with Sprint and TMobile set for 8 Sept 2009. Nothing but the sound of crickets from Verizon and Samsung regarding the Omnia 2 and it's "Q3" release date.

Since the O2 is only Rev A and only upgradeable to WM 6.5, as far as we know, I think I'll wait about another year until an Omnia with LTE AND an OLED screen is available. Don't want to pay a lot of $$$ and find my phone is obsolete in 1 to 1 1/2 years. Now if Vzw says, "Please take this O2 for a pittance, Oh Humble Sir, until we can give you an even better O3 with LTE...," who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth.
