Do you have to use an IMG file to update one of your cooked ROM's or it is known that the official Verizon tool, if used on a proper 32-bit system, will be able to successfully overwrite and update any of your cooked ROMs based on the CC20 version?

Yeah the official update overwrites everything.

You can flash just fine from my cooked versions to CF03.

Mobile Shell and AD's Vanilla v1.0 WM6.5 update ROM

Anyone, how does Mobile Shell 3.0 play with the WM 6.5 ROM (or doesn't it?). When I get my replacement phone, that's where I'd like to go.

Adrynalyne's repository of removed programs

Mostly from the CC20 Leaked Rom according to the header:

IMO they play nicely together. What you are doing when you install MS3 is turning off the Titanium interface. You are left with three user interfaces if you will: MS3, Today, and when you click the Start button (upper left) you get the honey-comb program list (don't recall what that's really called). But I generally live in MS3 just like I did in 6.1.

I keep wanting to learn Titanium and CHome and such but haven't found the time or "Titanium for Dummies" primer. I've read the learning curve is steep but once you get it, you love it. Not there yet plus I have a couple Today plug-ins that I still worship (WeatherPanel). The way i'm set up now gives me what I need.

In an attempt to gently hijack this thread a bit...
I thought titanium was the honeycomb thing. I can't stand that honeycomb thing.
What is titanium and how do I turn it on to check it out?
I installed Adryn's 6.5 vanilla

If you installed 6.5 vanilla then you should be seeing Titanium by default. Go to post#2 here: CF03 Based ROMs From Adrynalyne 1.0 *Latest ROMs Here!* - PPCGeeks

The screen with Applications, Office, Phone, Voicemail, etc.? That's Titanium, A scrollable list of "panels".

Oh, that scrolling home screen thing? That sucked too. I turned that off right away. Now, how to turn off the honeycomb thing?

At that point, use Windows Mobile 6.1.

Problems with vanilla 2.0

I loaded Vanilla 2.0, disabled the Windows default on the Today screen, then loaded Mobile Shell 3.0, pocket plus 4.02. active sync (OTA to Exchange Server) and opera are not working. IE works. I installed over CF03. Task manager doesn't seem to work from within mobile shell although it does from the floating honeycomb on the today screen. The phone seems to be getting pretty hot, too. Seems like it might be back to WM 6.1 for me, too.

P.S. I am not trying to install anything I didn't have installed (and working great) under WM 6.1, Adryn's v1.7 UPDATE on the CC20 ROM.

If we decided to go back to WM 6.1, do we have to reflash with CF03 before flashing with a WM 6.1 UPDATE or if we're at Vanilla 2.0 over WM 6.5, can we just reflash with WM 6.1 over what we've already got (Vanilla 2)? TIA.

EDIT: Deleting Pocket Plus seems to fix most problems, including Activesync and Opera.

I'm glad you detected PP as the culprit. As you know I'm using MS3 with 6.5 1.0 and did not have the problems you described. I also used to use PP but came figure out I wasn't using it any longer so stopped.

So are you happy(ier) with 6.5? I haven't gone to 2.0 quite yet. A) No time B) I like to give the bleeding-edgers 24 hours with the latest and greatest in order to allow for any "WHOOPS conditions". In fact, he did pull 2.0 after the first few Downloads in order to tweak some things. If you are still thinking 2.0 is causing you any issues, 1.0 is still available to try.

Also, I trust you know that once you flashed CF03 there is no need to redo it whether you are going from 6.5 to 6.1 or from 6.5 2.0 to 1.0 etc. At least that's the word on the street.

Thanks for the great advice, as usual, Jon. Good advice to avoid the bleeding edge, too, but things seem to be working well now. Just the more spacious menu structure in WM 6.5 and the few extra tweaks here and there make it worth the upgrade. Too bad I trashed my original Omnia getting here. I think I owe Adrynalyne another donation for a few beers!

Hey Jim, sorry you are having these problems but maybe you should give Blazingwolfs MS3 6.5 rom a try.

It works great for me with very minimal bug interference (no rom is perfect but BW is close).

After reading his last few posts I guess hes going to update the rom to a new version that includes the latest SYS and XIP and some bug fixes, so you might want to wait until tomorrow to flash.

I'm using MS3 6.5 v1.1 of his roms and couldn't be happier, it just seems to get better and better.

Heres the link if your interested. Post 2 is the MS3 version.

I also have been keeping an eye on Wolf's ROM from afar wishing to try it out. but waiting to get my Sashimi in better shape first. Could you give us a hint as to what SYS and XIP mean? Not familiar with the acronyms. Will no doubt hit forehead and say "Duh!" when you explain but maybe not.

Thanks for the tip, Jay. I'm about ready for Flashaholics Anonymous, though. I was so happy with v1.7 of Adryn's WM 6.1 Update that I was, like, do I really need to update for any reason? But I couldn't resist one more "drink" and one trashed Omnia and quite a few hours later, I'm sobering up with a new ROM on a new replacement Omnia. So I'm getting to the point when I should quit while I'm ahead. Me and Ray Milland in "Lost Weekend."

I have had MAJOR issues (hard resets )with Pocket Plus as the culprit. I have solved 'some' of those by using the beta from their forum, but MOST of the problems I have eliminated by turning off the battery indicator across the top. Hope that helps anyone out there with similar issues.
