Thanks for the tip, Jay. I'm about ready for Flashaholics Anonymous, though. I was so happy with v1.7 of Adryn's WM 6.1 Update that I was, like, do I really need to update for any reason? But I couldn't resist one more "drink" and one trashed Omnia and quite a few hours later, I'm sobering up with a new ROM on a new replacement Omnia. So I'm getting to the point when I should quit while I'm ahead. Me and Ray Milland in "Lost Weekend."
Good analogy Jim. I know what you mean for sure. Everytime I flash there's those moments where you wonder if it survived. I've done so many times that I should relax but maybe I LIVE for those moments. Like a race car driver going into that last turn all out, running on empty, and wonder if you'll make it to the finish line alive. Sooner or later there might be disaster but you live for the rush. Maybe junkies feel the same way.
If I trashed an Omnia I think I'd sober up too.
Until then, where's the next rush?
ps You said earlier that Verizon set you up with a new one because it was less than a year old? Sweet! No catch? No "charge"? I guess I have like four months to go living dangerously before I really worry?
I have had MAJOR issues (hard resets )with Pocket Plus as the culprit. I have solved 'some' of those by using the beta from their forum, but MOST of the problems I have eliminated by turning off the battery indicator across the top. Hope that helps anyone out there with similar issues.
Thanks, pbajr! Great tips and if I get up my courage, I'll try Pocket Plus again.
I haven't been able to create a self-restoring backup using Sprite Mobile Backup v6.5.4.2 (haven't upgraded to 6.5.4.12 yet but that upgrade does not appear to cure the problem Sprite Backup 6.5.4.14 + Windows Mobile 6.5 )
The answer at the above community site is "too bad. WM 6.5 is not released yet so why do you expect support?)
I will try a plain old backup - that just means you need to reinstall Sprite Backup from a CAB in the event of a complete meltdown. Any ideas, anyone?

Upgraded to Sprite Backup v6.5.4.16 - can't even create a non-self-restoring backup. I will be letting the folks at Sprite Software know and switching to Spb or Resco if they can't provide a solution. Adrynalyne recommends RESCO so that's where I may be heading.

Since Adrynalyne recommended Resco Backup, I downloaded the 14-day free trial of that. Seems to work pretty well. Here is a comparative review of Sprite vs Spb vs Resco.
I offer it just for informational purposes. I have no opinion pro or con on Resco yet. One needs to go through at least a Restore or two. Sprite seems more powerful and lumbering but, hey, it doesn't work with WM 6.5.

Great find on the review. Very comprehensive.
I trust you know that you'll get 20% off SPB Backup since you own other SPB software (maybe more with the multiple titles you own). Resco though seems to lead by a nose in functionality but I've never tried it myself.
Reply from Sprite Mobile on backup with cooked ROMs
"Hi there,
For your information. We are compatible with Windows Mobile 6.5 authorize released versions but we don't support NON SUPORTED ROM IMAGES such as the images that you are using. If you wait for a release 6.5 you won't experience any problems. We appreciate your enthusiasm and your willingness to experiment new things but cook ROM images are not stable or reliable and there is nothing new about them. If you are used to using software you guys may be aware that unsupported versions of applications DO NOT have any kind of support. We hope you guys will be successful in your quest of finding an application that supports every version of your COOK ROM images.
Best of luck

The tone is kind of surprising. I was very, very impressed with sprite backup back in the axim V days, but once WM5 came out, they seemed to have hit a roadblock and haven't recovered. Not to mention the unprofessional tone of that reply - sounds more like a guy's opinion on morals.
I still use Sprite backup but have not had any success with a restore other than direct from device and back to it with no rom changes at all. Basically, it works after a hard reset as long as nothing else changed with the device.
I have gotten to where it is more reliable to just re-load all my apps and sync. No need for a backup at all. Who needs 'em...
Autofilter not working in Excel under Vanilla 2.0, WM 6.5
I'm running Vanilla 2.0, WM 6.5, and I just noticed Autofilter does not work in Excel Mobile. Could be some of the other stuff I am running. Has anyone else had this problem? (select a spreadsheet heading row, pick Menu->Tools-Autofilter, and you can a list of values in each column from a dropdown box, you can filter on a field value, etc). Doesn't work. Can't select a value from the dropdown list.
I am running wm6.5 md2 rom and have recently been getting this error:
Code:
[Zoomer]:Cannot find MUI resource file. LangId=0409
I think it may be related to spb phone suite as it is the most recent software addition I've made and I don't remember getting this error until just recently.
I did a search and found some info that may be related here. This seems to be related to the phone dialer skin, so also makes me think it is related to the spb phone suite.
Is anyone else having this error?
As far as the autofilter issue, I haven't been able to test it for another reason: every spreadsheet I open on my omnia (all have been copied over via the AS folder sync) open as read only and won't allow me to do anything to them. The autofilter option is there but greyed out.
Not sure how to get these files to be editable.

(just an ignorant, grasping-at-straws suggestion). With a file explorer like Resco, you can look at file attributes and change them from Read-Only, if that's the root of your problem.

Since I am now using Blazingwolf's 6.5 MobileShell version with Batti across the top, I don't need PP for that. However, is there another way to to get multiple windows with PIE? It was the only other needed feature...
Anybody having issues with bluetooth headsets ? My Jawbone II keeps dropping its connection.
I have to connect it a few times for it to remain connected. Once I conclude a call, it will drop again.
Using the Vanilla ROM.
Sorry you're having a problem! I'm using Adryn's Vanilla 2.0 over CF03. Just tried 4 or 5 calls and my headset remained connected after each disconnect. I'm using a Plantronics Calisto Pro and I'm at home using a Network Extender (if the cell connection has anything to do with it). Do you have a different headset to try?
All I can say is I use my Moto S9's daily with no dropped connections. I rarely use them for the headset function as much as the stereo but both work. Vanilla 3.0.

Hi, Jon
How is Autofilter working for you in Excel Mobile? If it works in Vanilla 3.0 for you, maybe it's time for another flash for me!
I am not having any problems with bluetooth headset on mine. However, I have only used it twice. I will attempt more uses to see how it goes.
I have attempted to change the file properties in excel to not be read-only and they were already set as such. So I will check the file extensions. They all originated as xlsx files from my pc, but may have been converted or not converted or something.

Ok, JL, here's the update: PP 4.1 came out just yesterday... I installed just the parts I typically use, and so far ( ) No Issues!
Thanks for the PP tip! and how does Autofilter work in a Blazing Wolf ROM?!

Jump in, the waters fine, no, really
Hey, pbajr! How does Autofilter in Excel Mobile work in BlazingWolf's cooked ROM? It's KAPUT in Adryn's Vanilla 2.0, WM 6.5. And, last time I checked Adrynalyne had no reply to my problem either here or on PPCGeeks. So I am ready to switch allegiance to something that works. (Autofilter allows you to select out records with certain data values in certain fields from a mess of others).
