the above is not a path, but each thing you need to select in sequence

Did you upgrade from a cooked rom?
Upgrading from the original on the phone. Right now I'm reloading my contacts/calendar/all that jazz from MyPhone so I'll see if that works in a moment.

Is it me or is this download slower than your legs as you cross the room to plant that sloppy kiss on your grandmother's lips?

It is. It took me quite some time to download it.

Guys, any word on the device memory size with CF03? Also, what increments does the battery read in?

Still no luck after switching it off 911 only. Starting to feel like this whole thing's not happening.

The weatherbug widget as well as the Live widget are kind of nice though. Best additions I've found so far.

Switched to Location On (not just for 911) and all I can get is aGPS which is essentially useless around my house as it bounces between two cell towers and claims to be within 5000m of me at each though the radius doesn't touch my current location. I set port 8 manually and got it to at least say it was looking for satellites but after 20 minutes I gave up.

Just a thought but shouldn't I have a GPS option in the Settings -> Connections menu if the GPS was truly unlocked?

Not unless that is new with the upgrade. The current 6.1 versions have this setting under the phone settings. I have found this to be generally tied to the phone. On my old blackberry 8330 curve, once I turned off the phone service (to switch to my omnia), the gps stopped working. I believe it has to also have phone for some reason, even though I don't think it is agps.

As well, I don't believe the omnia has agps capability in the software. Does anyone know for sure?

I'm fairly certain aGPS is enabled with this ROM. Anyways after searching the registry it looks like the GPS should be COM8 with a baud of 4800. I'll have to test that tomorrow at or on my way to work as my metal roof prevents pretty much any GPS from filtering through (tried on bluetooth GPS devices I've been using due to the lack of the internal Omnia GPS support).

I wonder if higher baud rate will work. I set mine higher, but don't remember the setting, it was 192xx or something and it worked. I can't say it worked faster/slower than anything else. I have since hard reset my device, so can't confirm any settings that I had.

Just my .02 (don't mind me really) but when I was using a seperate bluetooth receiver on my 6800, I had to use COM 4 with a baud rate of 4800.

Tossing that out there...

My observations after flashing

Let me answer my own questions: Device memory, after Sprite restore merge level 1, is unchanged. The battery increments are still 5%. The AGPS gets an instantaneous, but very imprecise, lock. It found me within 3900 meters until the GPS picked up satellites, which took a couple of minutes. It finally found 5 satellites. The "Locate me" in Bing still doesn't work. Nothing else seems to have changed beyond that. I've heard rumors about improved battery life, but only time will tell with that

OK I set the GPS in Google Maps to COM8 and 19200 baud. It took about 5 minutes but it got a lock ranging from 3 to 5 satellites while in the office.

anyone who has updated so far, have you used any of the previously cooked roms or are you going from stock ROM to upgraded Verizon official rom only?

I haven't seen any compelling reasons to update at this point. I've had GPS for months on my Omnia.

I'm with you! I'm waiting for a cooked version of the OFFICIAL ROM UPDATE or an Omnia II, depending on ROI for effort and $$$.

I finally got it to give me some sort of location in Bing. But it's saying I'm in Takoradi (which is in Ghana. I'm in Michigan).

it's already out. AD has a 6.5 rom already out based on the CF03. You have to flash CD03 first then go to his rom. That could be the reason to switch because he will probably stop development on the older CC20 version.

Time to blow my phone away again next week I guess. I really love AD's 6.5 rom. It's fast, not clunky, and just plain works.

Fast food from the ROM chefs, eh?! Now if a cooked ROM would only work on an Omnia II....
