Are you using WM 6.1 or 6.5 ROM?

Out of curiosity I would like to know what you guys think is more functional and stable WM 6.1 or 6.5?

Im currently using Blazingwolfs 6.5 v9 ROM and lovin it.

I don't really have the time to flash a lot so I have not tried any 6.1 ROMs.

I hear goods things about stability and speed with 6.1 and good things about functionality with 6.5.

Please indicate the ROM you are using.

I'm currently on Adrynalyne's 6.5 4.01 ROM. I was using his 6.1's. I haven't found any problems nor real differences in performance or stability between the two. The important thing was to get off of the stock ROM.

I wanted to try the Titanium interface in 6.5 but frankly have been so happy with the way I have SPB Mobile Shell set up that I have yet to see any advantage to Titanium although I admit to not spending much time trying to customize it yet.

Hey, Jay! Can you turn your thread into a poll? I'm using Adrynalyne's v1.7 for WM 6.1. Just like you said, my intuitive feeling is that the marginal gain for me to switch to something else is not going to be that great, there is only so much time in life, and I don't want to spend it all playing with a phone. But anything that's really a step above, flash me up, Scotty.

In the heyday of Moore's law, computers had to be 2x to 3x faster than my old one before I'd buy a new one. Guess we got derailed from speedier and speedier phones a while back! Now it's how much other stuff can you cram in.

I was thinking about doing a poll but could not figure out how.

Sure wish I was smarter, but at least I was smart enough to buy an Omnia

Im currently running adryns 6.5 v4.2 rom. I use his vanilla rom which is packed full of useful things and then I also use m2d (installed over vanilla as oppose to flashing his m2d version). I switch between UI's all the time. But in terms of the stock 6.5, titanium experience (well not exactly stock.. Adryns rom) here is my take...

6.5 is waaaaaay more finger friendly that 6.1. It is also very customizable. It is tricky to learn how to customize titanium but when you do it opens a flood gate of customizing options. 6.5 is also nice to have because it is familiarizing me with the OS and most likely my next device will be 6.5 so your getting a little ahead of the curve. And other than that there are just alot of little things that make the rom nice... free space, gps functionality (im getting cold locks in less than five seconds) and so on...

Im a big 6.5 supporter.

I'm currently using the 1.6 Andrynalyne ROM but will be changing today to something different. The activesync killer is really annoying me. Any time I open a web browser or go to check mail (direct push) it tries to dial out to EVDO. I need it to stay on. I know it was put in to help battery life but I don't find that useful. I guess there is a way to turn it off but it's probably easier to just re-flash with something else.

Couple of things in that rom that might be related. Facebook app, I can't upload videos anymore. Pics go ok but not videos. I think it may be Activesync killing the internet connection while I am uploading. That's my theory anyway. I also have a big pause when answering a phone call. I hit Accept to get the call and say Hello, it's about 4 seconds before I say hello again and someone actually hears me. Pandora used to work fine, now it just doesn't. Not sure why there but suspect activesync again. Skype still works ok at times, Slingplayer is fine also. In the File Explorer, when browsing the internal My Storage on the device, the refresh rate is terribly slow now. It wasn't that way when I first flashed but is now. Just to show the listing of files it takes a good 10-15 seconds. I don't have more than 4 subfolders and a couple of files in the root there.

I'm tempted to go back to a 6.5 rom to see what has been done. I haven't done any of Blazingwolf's roms yet so I may give one of those a whirl. If that doesn't work for me, I may try Andrynalyne's 1.7 and just try to search on how to disable the activesync killer.

I think Adrynalyne removed Activesync killer from v1.7. His PPC Geeks UPDATE site lists version history in his first post in the usual reverse chronological order. Good Luck and I'd be interested to hear if v1.7 or another ROM fixes your issues.

I installed his latest 6.5 this morning. So far so good. Installing apps right now. It doesn't appear that I have the same Activesync problems yet. Time will tell.

As I said, I haven't dug into customizing Titanium much opting rather instead to maintain my Mobile Shell setup for the time being. Can I trust you are using the CHome Editor? Can you recommend a good resource for getting a jumpstart education (aka Titantium for Dummies)? Most threads I come across on XDA or ppcggeks seem to assume one has the basic knowledge of concepts such as panels vs. pages, etc. I'm missing the basics I need to get going. I'm seeign all sorts of intriguing plug-ins yet not sure where to start to plug them in.

A basic question: can one use Today plug-ins with Titanium and how? I currently only use PhoneAlarm and WeatherPanel in my Today setup now but have Mobile Shell set up to easily go to Today and back. Do I have to abandon such apps if I use Titanium? If not how are they implemented?

after all the app installs, things seem to be just fine. My isues I had in the stripped down 1.6 rom are a thing of the past in the winmo 6.5. I like the interface, even the honeycomb. Phone calls answer immediately now. The Facebook app still seems flaky and Pandora doesn't connect to the server anymore (did they kill Pandora on Winmo?). Otherwise, I should be good to go for a couple weeks. If nothing comes up as an issue, I'd say I would be done flashing for a while.

Nice to hear things are working out for you ctrompeter.

Not sure if you chose Blazingwolfs new v10 6.5 Rom but if you did don't you love the implementation of the XDA_UC tool to install all the cabs? Man it sure makes flashing to a new Rom so much faster and easier.

Also BW cooked in MS3 which i use all the time. The only time I ever see the today screen is when I want to see the pic of my family other than that theirs no need for it.

Only real issue I have is ICS disconnecting every 5 to 10 minutes which is real annoying.

BW IMO has the best 6.5 rom and is awesome when it comes to supporting his work.

I drop him a 5 spot every time I load one of his roms for the simple fact that, if it wasn't for him my Omnia WOULD SUCK.

Do you have a link for that IMO rom? AD's latest 6.5 rom is what I loaded. This phone runs so much smoother than it did before. I still have problems with the Facebook app but I think a lot of that has to do with the app itself and winmo 6.5. I haven't tried ICS yet tethered, I did install WMWifirouter and made sure that worked ok but didn't leave it up longer than a few minutes to test. If I have time I will do more testing this week on those items. I'm getting ready to start a Vmware Vsphere 4.0 install today ontop a SAN so I will be tied up for a few days.

When i had AD's 3.8, wmwifirouter worked fine. Just upgraded to 4.2 last night.. haven't tried since... facebook worked fine on 3.8 for me as well.

Wondered if you had also tried Sashimi and could compare the two installer tools. I've just been setting up Sashimi in my spare time and am now hearing about XDA_UC and wonder if one is a slam-dunk over the other.

I'm using Adryn's 1.7 rom with not much loaded. I love the rom, but can't stand the screen sensitivity. I've tried the suggestions in the tips and tricks thread to improve it, but I don't think it did anything.

I'm lost on the listings here of 6.5 versions but would like to try one since my phone DOES SUCK. What is the best one?

Here is a link to Blazingwolfs v10 6.5 rom.

If you want the MS3 version simply choose that download link.

I am having a hard time flashing 6.5. I had no problem flashing c20 and then adryn 1.7. I currently have adryn 1.7 and did a hard reset. I also set activesync usb off and set the device to mass storage.

The I followed these steps:
start up umdl v2.3
select pda button and browse to the rom file Flash.BW.RockRepublicNeo10.bin from the post above.
Then I click the detect button.
Power off phone completely
plug phone into usb cable, that is plugged into my usb2.0 port
turn phone on

Then umdl shows the following in the Downloading Log window on the bottom left:
usbDev open Faile
usbDev open Faile
usbDev open Faile
usbDev open Faile
usbDev open Faile
PDA Device not found.

I did re-install the usb drivers from the disk that came with the omnia and also rebooted.

I have a I910 with vzw, so I am not sure what I'm missing. I searched the sight and read a couple different posts with instructions to to the rom load, but don't see anything I'm missing.

edit - I am also using windows vista, phone is fully charged and after the phone powering on, it boots to the beginning screen and my pc detects it as an e: drive and gives me the 'option to browse' dialog.

Any ideas? - thanks in advance
