GPRS_bye_if_device_off or blank?

I notice in the tips and tricks thread that direction for battery saving is to blank out the suspendresume value. Mine was set to GPRS_bye_if_device_off. I found in other threads, the setting it to GPRS_bye_if_device_off was the fix but that there were issues when email was downloaded and the screen was 'asleep'. I have blanked my value but am wondering if anyone has specific experience with which setting is better?
