My vote is for the Omnia Pro (Louvre) with the slide out keyboard. But one article sez it won't see the US and one article sez it will (except I think they called it the Omnia Pro B760 (Louvre))???

The Yahoo article says only the Omnia II will be in the United States.
Once LTE is deployed, though. You will be able to buy phones like that and just pop your Verizon LTE Sim into them and you will be on the network. Which is a major shift to the way Verizon works now.. but man will it be sweet.
When can we start a "Samsung Omnia II / i8000" forum?
Lots of info starting to arrive since it was announced on the 15th.
Still waiting for specific dates for its Verizon release.
The thread made me wonder if Verizon is actually going to release the Offical Rom to unlock GPS.
I understand the reason "why would Verizon have a Rom created if they were not going to release it". But creating a Rom and distributing it to every Omnia i910 is a whole other financial situation.
Maybe they will screw us i910 owners and put the money into something new and crowd pleasing like the Omnia II.
That sounds more characteristic of Verizon than if they actually released something benefical to their customers.
BTW O II looks awesome, hope I will be able to get it for $50 like I did the original.

+1. I was all set to get an Omnia last week when my Verizon contract came up for renewal, then I heard about the Omnia II. Now I want an Omnia II to replace my SCH-i760.

Spill. What information? I haven't heard anything new for a week!

Arrg. Me too.
Well I'm holding my NE2 out for the Louvre... I'm not big on touch screen keyboards... If VZW doesn't pickup the OmniaPRO B7610... I'll likely head over to the HTC pro2... but would prefer to stay with a Samsung gizmo

This is on my short list. Just wish it had a capacitive screen.
Thank you... WHy don't all touch screens have capacitative screens... i mean, i don't want a stylus... the omnia doesnt even have a place to put it! (without it dangling off the side, or with a certain case for it) lol... capacitative screens are so much more accurate

Capacitive Screens A Possibility for Windows Mobile 6.5

The reason that many Windows Mobile 6.5 devices will retain the resistive touchscreens is that quite a few programs and apps still require small, accurate touchscreen input. Capacitive touchscreens do not offer that degree of flexibility yet. According to Marcus Perryman--a "developer evangelist for Windows Mobile" according to WMPowerUser--capacitive touchscreens will still be available on some Windows Mobile devices.
Windows Mobile 6.5 has primarily been designed for resistive screens because some input areas still rely on small controls and require a high level of input accuracy that can’t be easily achieved with a finger and require a stylus; however some device manufacturers are considering options to ship capacitive screens.
Sorry for the intrusion as I'm usually on the 6800 forums but maybe you might be able to answer some questions for me as my 2 every is coming up in Oct with my contract termination in Dec. I'm looking for a new device (prefer Verizon- been with them over 9 years). I've narrowed it down to the Touch Pro 2 and Omnia 2 (no forum yet to ask). I absolutely love how sleek the current Omnia is - really looks rich and I'm waiting to see what the amoled screen looks like on the 2.
1) When making a phone call do you accidentally wind up activating something with your ear? A lot of the Touch pro guys are having this issue.
2) Do you really need the stylus - reason I ask is that I hate the way the stylus on the Omnia hangs by the lanyard on the side. Is this something you can do away with? How finger-friendly is the phone?
3) I've always had a device with a physical keyboard so how accurate is the on-screen keyboard (responsiveness, accuracy, ability to type quickly)?
4) I've noticed a lot of people are using SPB 3 (which I'm using on my 6800) but can these programs also be used (TCPMP, Pocket player 4.1, SPB backup, Resco Registery editor/explorer, Memmaid, Mobipocket, SPB Pocket Plus and Microsoft Voice Command 1.6)? I'm guessing that since this is a Windows phone it should work ok.
5) Does the Omnia/Omnia 2 have a microsd expansion slot? I've got a 16GB card now and it's nearly full with music, movies, books, pictures and a few programs that I didn't want to install on my current devices main memory (really low to begin with out of the box).

....
Thanks for all your help.
I'll give other folks a chance to help out, too, only answering #1!
The default Samsung dialer that comes with the phone has a lockout feature that most of us find very annoying although you may find it a blessing. After a few seconds, the screen locks, and you have to press the D-pad/optical mouse to reactivate the screen. Very annoying if you're in a voice navigation call answering system and you're waiting to hear option 3. Adrynalyne's cooked ROM's have the Samsung dialer disabled (you can reactivate it) and another dialer with no screen lock. I don't find my face activating the phone but YMMV.

No, there is a screen lock that turns on when you make a call.

I use a stylus sometimes, but about 95% of the time i don't need it or dont' have it.

I can't type that quickly on a virt keyboard. I see others do quite well. that is my only complaint is to not have a keyboard. you can get used to it though. I had the Saga and this is a better phone by 2x.

I use SPB3 and love it. i'm also running 6.5. I'm sure all the programs you listed will work as i see people in the forums using them.

Yes, the OMnia has 8GB built in and a MicroSD in addition. I think it can handle 16 as well, i have an 8GB in mine.
