Adrynalyne's ROM's do a great job of battery management

Having just benefited from a Vzw replacement, you're probably not in the market to be flashing any ROM's but the various Adrynalyne cooked ROM's that I've tried (1.4, 1.5, 1.6, and now v1.7) all seem to do a great job of power management right "out of the box," managing the data connections and so on. You can improve the official ROM power consumption by not using the backlight when indoors and by regediting the data connection so it disconnects after 60 seconds of non-use versus the default setting which is 600 seconds (10 minutes). (on the latter search on Ninja4Hire in the tips and tricks thread).

And you can turn off automatic screen rotation, haptic feedback, etc. Anything that consumes juice.

Oh, yeah. Another very important tip if you use Exchange Server, set the sync schedule for peak time and off hours to "Manually." If you have it set to "As items arrive" and you get a lot of e-mail or request delivery and read receipts, you will burn up your battery like crazy as the phone is constantly making EVDO connections and synching with every new arrival in your Inbox.

--AND, I have my backlight on battery power set to turn off if device is not used in 10 seconds, with the "turn on backlight when a button is pressed ..." box UNCHECKED in POWER management. This plus having the backlight on manual in the BACKLIGHT applet in system settings gives you a not very bright but usable screen indoors that saves juice and gets turned off quickly when you're not using the phone.

The one thing I wish Mobile Shell had was a SUSPEND button like you get in Spb Pocket Plus to immediately put the phone to sleep when you hit it. Anyone know where to get a SUSPEND widget for Mobile Shell?
