How to free up main memory??

Hi all,

I went to install MSFT Voice Command tonight, but am having a problem installing it. When I check main memory it tells me I have 1700kb left!!! However, I don't see any way of freeing up memory.

Suggestions? I don't have lots of mail or text msgs on it, and only a couple of photos.

Robert

delete some useless stuff like the verizon appzone

delete your cache from the opera browser

consider moving your cache to "My Storage" or "Storage Card"

I concur. My memory was always mysteriously disappearing. The cache was a big reason. Deleting it was only a band-aid until I browsed again. Moving it to My Storage as well as Downloads was the only answer. Details are elsewhere in this forum.

I still have some cleanup to do but instead of running out of memory each day, I now have at least 9MB free.

I think I need to move some apps from main memory to My Storage to free more RAM. Running Today plug-ins from main memory was critical on the i760 but I'm hearing they run fine from My Storage.

As I said, details are elsewhere in the forum. Searching 'cache' for you I found:

I too have run out of memory - really quick with just 5 SPB apps and resco file explorer. moved opera cache to storage card. I installed the main apps in main memory, others in the 8gb space.

only have 5.5 mb in storage memory left. How can I free this up, aand what the heck is occupying this space to begin with? there should be 88mb - is soemthing wrong or do VZ install a boat load of junk on the phone?

someone mentioned about revmoving vz app zone. Has anyone tried this and does it work, and how much memory can you reclaim? anyhting else that can be removed to free this up? thanks.

I might recommend a tool such as MemMaid. In addition to being a great cleaner, it has a nice Storage Usage tool that shows textually and graphically what is taking up your storage. It's always helped me find where my memory is going.

It doesn't show up in my remove programs list of programs. No preinstalled programs show up there on my Omnia. Anyone else?

My recollection is pretty foggy here but I think, like VzNavigator, you have to install it in the first place before you even need to worry about uninstalling it. Otherwise, it's just a shortcut to stuff in ROM. I've installed and quickly uninstalled mine. When you try to launch it, you get a warning "Installation of VzAppZone and required Microsoft components may take 5-10 minutes..."

So don't install it and you won't have to uninstall it!
