The whole crazy thing is that I never in all my time with Verizon had to have a device replaced. My V710 soldiered between me and my wife for about 3 years, my i730 for 2 + years, my Q and Q9 all were originals - never replaced. Now this, 3 times in 5 days. All with the same exact issue. Very disappointing. Honestly, I have not really talked to tech support, I got a store to do them...

Hi all! Well I figured I would let you all know that my Omnia (3rd one) was officially returned and I received my Saga i770 today. I must say that I am personally much happier with the Saga and a real QWERTY. The Saga for me is really just an evolution of my Q9m. The optical/mouse pad is AWESOME on the Saga, just awesome. I can actually send/receive call and have EVDO at my house.

And to let you know, Convergent is now going to let me moderate both the Omnia and Saga forums. You guys are all actually doing a great job in here and there really has not been much for me to do in here as it is. I would definitely to get the FAQ section going but I will need all of your help to do it. If any of you would like to contribute to it, please PM me and I will send you my email address. I think it would work the best if you sent me what you would like in there via email then I can load it up in there. We can also do that with any other things you would like setup as stickys at the top.

Thanks for being our Moderator!

Hi, Lou

Thanks for staying on as our moderator. We can really benefit down the road from your experience and expertise (how are those custom ROM's that chizzy58 ordered coming along?!...j/k...). Too bad the Omnia didn't work out for you. I'm still happy as a lark with mine but you inspired me to sign up for YouMail and conduct my own experiments on missed calls to see how things go down in Texas. Everything's so relatively flat and few massive buildings where I am, it's probably a different world from your environment. Maybe we should all do a SuperDave for you and chip in and buy you your own full-price Omnia so you'll have something to work on!?

thanks for the vote of confidence! youmail is great - a nice free alternative to visual voicemail. if the omnia had the optical pad that the saga has on it and better cell signal it would have been a whole different ball game. sitting here in my home office i have 2 bars and evdo and can also use my wifi - the omnia had no cell service and did not find my wifi from this same spot. just loaded spb shell on the saga a few minutes ago (been trying to use stock for a day 1st) and it works great on the saga. scales down perfectly to the 320x320...

Latest news on Miata492

Lou is switching to a BB Storm!

Not even a WM user anymore?!

Maybe we are a "self-moderating" forum? Most everyone is doing a pretty good job of searching for relevant threads and posting in those. Let's keep it up!

HA! you found that, huh? I dont have a Storm yet... It did not come on Saturday! And I disconnected myself from my phone and computer for the last few days to unwind and get back to reality! Yes, I am gonna try the Storm. No, I am not sure if I will like it enough to keep it. I feel like I have been on a yoyo for the last few weeks between the phones and my Dell issues. I need some stability at this point! LOL! I could never leave WM completely and as of right now there is not another WM phone on VZW that I would buy. If I stick with WM, I am sticking with my Q9m. I now really feel that the WM Standard OS is much "smarter" than the WM Pro OS. The navigation / menus have such a better flow to them. The biggest problem with the Standard OS is that they use it on weaker, slower platforms. Maybe that is why I like the BlackBerry OS - it just works. But it is nowhere near as exciting as WM. I am sure some will disagree with my viewpoint and that is fine with me. I guess I have just been spoiled by my simple Q's with good battery life, strong signal, and amazing call quality over the last few years!

And yes Jim, you guys are doing a great job in here and the postings are going very well!

Well, it wasn't too hard to find your post. Just wondered where you went so I searched all of PDAPhone.com for individual posts authored by Miata492, and I was like so, Holy Cow, we're really losing Lou... that I thought everyone else would like to know, too! When the natives are restless, we venture off the i900 reservation...

Well now, if you have read any more of my posts in the Storm threads you will find out how much I am enjoying it! I must say, it is a really great touchscreen pda phone! Yeah, BB's are not usually the most exciting smartphones out there, but the Storm definitely is. Now, with the latest beta OS loaded, typing is even faster and more accurate, plus NO lag with the accelerometer orientation. I do wish it had wifi for using at home, etc. but RevA is fast on it. And battery life... excellent!

Interesting. In the following article pondering what's exciting in the future of handheld mobile devices, I don't think Blackberry is mentioned once.

I actually read the blog following Dwight Silverman's article (he's the computer columnist for the Houston Chronicle, amongst other things) and the last reply to his column, so far, says:

I'm looking at the new Samsung Omnia touch phone. it's running windows mobile 6.1 and it's better than iPhone in my opinion

Too bad about the signal strength with your Omnia. Not bad where I work/live but I admit it does not have the strongest antenna I have seen on a mobile device. However, all the other great pieces (especially unlocked GPS now!) make it such a wonderful device. I have not been impressed at all with the Storm. Both my GF and roomate have one and neither of them find it super impressive. I really hope it does fit your bill Lou!

Great reception in the hinterlands of Texas and New Mexico

Hey, Lou

4 bars in San Angelo, TX, Big Spring, TX, and Roswell, NM on my Omnia. And EVDO in Roswell, too. Didn't check out the EVDO those other places but it said EV at the top of screen (but more than a few places in West TX it was just 1X and barely a bar!).

UPDATE: 3 bars and EVDO in Santa Fe, 4 bars and EVDO in White Rock, a suburb of Los Alamos.

Just got my Storm2 for FREE from VZW! Huge improvement over the already great Storm. Looks like the Omnia2 will be dropping soon - who is getting one???

Welcome back! Just reading about the Storm2 and thinking you'd be a happy camper! It's been very, very quiet around here - like everyone has left! Maybe Omnia2 will bring it back to life?!
