anybody having issues where after a period of time with your Omnia plugged in, activesync eventually just disconnects?
I've noticed this since day 1, but wasn't sure what the cause might be... but since it is still happening, I'm curious to see if I'm all alone on this one...
I will keep "experimenting" with some things, like using the USB port on my laptops port replicator versus directly into the laptop (though I have used both and experienced with both)..
I've noticed something a little like that. In WMDC it'll say my phone is disconnected. I mouserightclick on the WMDC icon in the SysTray, pick Open Sync Center, then when I see my device listed (saying disconnected), I click (I use single-click launching) on it to launch the WMDC screen for the Omnia. Sometimes that's enough to make the Omnia connect. Otherwise, I just unplug the USB connection, plug it back in and wait. I have Ilium's eWallet setup to autosync. I think that's a sync conduit independent of ActiveSync. So that may help wake up my device, too. I've never had to reboot PC or Omnia, never had a time when going through this hokum didn't make it eventually connect. My wife never has these sorts of problems with her iPhone 3G. Another reason why MS better get it right the next time around.
The same dumb stuff happens with my AT&T 8525 (and, I think with the XV6800-hard to remember) so I think it's Active Stink and not the Omnia but let others disagree.
Jim - thanks for chiming in... I know activestink can be sloppy ... but it seems that it is doing it a bit more consistently than it did with my i730 ... so just seeing what others might be experiencing...
i have the same problem with WMDC and my Q9m. I will usually just leave my Q9 hooked up to my laptop all night and most of the time, in the morning, it is just physically connected, not digitally connected! This did not happen to me with WM5 on my i730 or Q, but only started with my Q9m on WM6 and then WM6.1
Anyone know how disable activesync from starting up?
im assuming u want to disable axtivesync on the computer side...
right click the activesync icon in your system tray and click on connection settings... if youre running a version other than 4.5 the below instructions might be in a different text but should be the gist.
uncheck "open activesync when my device connects"
you can also uncheck "allow usb connections"
WMDC has always been inconsistent for me. one thing that used to work for me was going into device manager and going into network adapter and removing the nic for the phone which was something like "microsoft network adapter" and then rescanning for hardware changes. then it would detect the phone again.
lately ive been using the phone usb connection feature and in SETTINGS > CONNECTIONS > USB CONNECTION and changing it from activesync to mass storage and then back to activesync and it will detect again. but its about 50/50,
but since ive discovered this option ive pretty much stopped using activesync entirely. i only really used it before to access files on the storage card or somewhere on the phone, but now i can do it with the this option and when its set to mass storage it never fails and stays connected.
