Is this thread also the place to post good sources for themes? Seems like the logical place. I will be looking for some once I decide what launchers and screen organizers I want to use. I think I saw a link to MoDaCo earlier but when I looked before, most of the sites and descriptions were in Italian or German or some such.

My first Try

OK guys this is my first try at skinning and at posting screen shots. So don't laugh too hard at the old fart. I downloaded all those great skins at the imarche site by MikiBest and after poring thru 96 pages on the forum at xda dev on these skins. I came up with this one called Kyro Carbonite Edit: Carbonfilter
The clock is the Ferrari analogue. Buttons are ---ahem---iPhone Silver and iPhone 2. NowScreen buttons are TM Green. OK, I have gone thru the attach sequence. Is that the best way to post them? Seems like I see some that are links and some where the actual pic is in the post. Let me know.

Thanks.

Definitely a good place to post your themes. Would love to see some more from everyone!

I was wondering if you could relay some of your thoughts and experiences with m2d. Painless? Did you have to uninstall anything to implement m2d? Did you have other shells active?

I've followed it a little in the past but frightened off somewhat by the work in progress state.

I'd like to learn from your experiences if I may (as well as get the Cliff Notes for the hundreds of pages of reading to follow it all).

Hey Taco,

Could you kindly link to places to download everything for your "iphone" setup? I've been searching for half an hour over at xda and everywhere else and haven't been able to find anything definitive.

Thanks,
ET

Does anyone at all know where I can get the same setup as Taco has? There seems to be so many references to variations on all these files and at different places on the net. I'm clueless as to which to install. Thanks for any advice or input whatsoever.

Would like to see continued activity in this thread as I am evaluating options to Samsung Today. I like the Samsung Today screen but would also like to see my upcoming appointments on my today screen.

These work for me

Mine is nothing special but it gives me everything I need right at my fingertips. When the mood strikes I just use "Theme Maker" (which I keep pinned in Mobile Shell) to change the wallpaper and colors. Here is a sample, some showing me for the sci-fi geek that I am!

I just enabled the "Today 2" and added my calendar. It is pretty close to what I want...if I could just reduce the size of the clock in the middle to add more room for appointments.

My "TODAY" screens: pretty prosaic but very functional

Here is my TODAY screen and my Spb Mobile Shell NOW screen. I'm hoping the MS NOW screen is going to change to v3.0 in the next 9 days (by end of March).

P.S. link to free Ilium screen capture software. When the Screen Capture utility is active, the App1 key (to capture) is the Main Menu key (temporarily reassigned from whatever your standard assignment is). Navigate to whatever screen you want to capture. Press the Main Menu key. You'll hear a camera shot noise and the BMP of that screen will end up in your My Documents folder (Main Memory) at about 281 kb. I opened my pix on my PC with a photo app, changed to PNG format (lossless compression) and saved at about 100 kb.

Ilium Software Screen Capture - A Free Screenshot Utility for Your Windows Mobile Device

EDIT: Added a 3rd screen shot to show what happens when you tap on the Spb PocketPlus "HOME" tab on the TODAY screen (HOME icon under Live Search plug-in) -"my favorites" apps appear and the Spb Phone Suite and Mobile Shell Most Recently Used/Pinned apps disappear-tap again, switch back. Same alternation for each Spb PP tab: "favorites" for that tab alternate with the last two mentioned Plug-ins for the overall Today screen on tapping that PP tab.

I thought it was a GREAT screen shot - a real macro picture of your device and screen - so you must have some skill with cameras as well as handheld devices! The only thing was it was a little too black and white for my tastes - I like colorful icons.

I like the light saber! I was thinking if your twins ever get to the point on needing "parental guidance," you could always say, "See this! (showing them your light saber screen). You'd better be good or Mommy's going to have to get out her light saber!"

Of course, kids being the way they are and testing parents to the limit, they'd probably continue on just hoping to see what Mommy's light saber really looks like.

the shot is actually a screen clip using the stock screen clipping tool in vista from the device simulator in the Plazmic CDK where you build all the BB themes/screens. It is a really amazing tool from BB to develop all your own stuff and with a simulator! MS really needs to get it together... really...
so, no camera skills involved! the other thing you dont see is how the theme really looks when on the device as everything that can be highlighted on the screen is shown as highlighted in the simulator so it is not that busy as the pic shows...

Here is my latest screens. This is iFonz version 1.2 (XDA) The less winmo I have to use the better, so shortcuts are the way for me. Jim good tip on the Ilium screen capture. Easy to use. For those that are using the sami phone app. try the icontact app. (XDA) Much easier. It allows you to auto insert names in SMS and email through the app.

dclaflin knows how to have fun!

Dclaflin: you are under arrest for exceeding the legal, allowed limit on handheld games! (although looks like you still have room for quite a few more). Cool!

You're right, they would do anything to see a real light saber! They particularly love my "death star" screen since I show it to them with the Empire music playing. As for keeping them in line, they know there's trouble when I give what they call "the look" as in "mama gave me the look and now I'm in a time out"!!
