So far, and that's not a long time, it's comparable to my 760, and I seemed to do better than most with my 760. I'm not a power user per se. Very little WiFi, average browsing (no movies, etc.), average phone use and heavy texting.
Used it most of today and still had over 75% at end of day. That's with me doing tweaks and playing with it since it's still new.

I am a little concerned about trading in the I770 for the Omnia if the battery life is short.

I've had my Omnia for a week now, and I've had two days so far that I didn't make it through the day without having to re-charge. One of those days, I used VZNavigator from Jacksonville, FL to Orlando, FL - but the phone was plugged into the car 12V during the trip. I may not have turn off the VZNavigator when I arrived, and that may have caused the power drain.
The other day I had to recharge early I had an hour and a half conference call among other normal usage.
There were times I had to recharge / swap batteries in my 760, so I think it is my amount of usage, not any additional power requirement of the Omnia.
I looked at the additional capacity battery, but I hate what it does to the overall size of the Omnia (large bump on the back). The current form factor is one of the pluses - I prefer it to the 760.

My subjective impression is the battery lasts about as long as the battery on my AT&T 8525 and the XV6800 I tried out. Not super great, not super bad. Just about the same as any other regular battery on any other PDAPhone I've owned. Since battery usage during the day is unpredictable, your best insurance would be to get a spare battery as I've done. The battery is pretty easy to change out once you get used to it (might wear out the plastic snap on the back after a while, we'll see).

Here are two reviews that mention battery life. Perhaps if you find on either site reviews of phones that you're familiar with that give their battery lives that will provide a good relative reference.
idk about all that..with no intetnet browsing and my email not pushed as they arrive i got it at 60 min i last til 7pm if i play on the web at work its around 30% by 3pm
ive noticed the battery life take a huge hit if your phoen is constantly swtiching between evdo and 1x. where i live i dont get the best signal so at home it constantly fluctuates between the two and i am lucky to get more than a few hours on it if i am on it making tweaks, etc.
the weird thing is that ill get the low battery reminder beep when its like at 50% and then within like 15 minutes its down to like 20%.
when i am at work where the signal is strong and i am getting full EVDO dtrength i can go pretty much 8am-5pm and only losing about 20%.
so i think the greatest impact to battery stregnth on this device other that usage is sretngh of signal reception and evdo/1x connection
According to the cnet review, it gets one of the best battery life on the market with a whopping 10 hours of talk time.
i read somewhere like in small print eithern vzws site or samsungs wheen they do those talk time/stand by estimates its based on the phone w/o a data connection and w/o any other usage. so its basically acting as just a phone and not under "pda" usage whether it be checking emails, tethering, internet surfing, etc.
those estimates are basically not real world pda usage estimates.

Kind of like the Gas Mileage Stickers on a new car.

I wouldn't consider PDA usage as requiring data and email. I use a lot of my phone's "PDA" features that don't require data to be used. Such as MS Office, e-book readers, etc. etc.
You're just as bad as Verizon, assuming I'm going to be using data simply because I buy a PDA phone

i guess theres always old school PDA and new school PDA.... haha
but i dont agree with their policy cause you can always use WIFI, but the data plan does amek it more conveneient and accessible. but thats a whole other thread and topic.
im no battery expert but i am starting to think that it matters what cable you use to charge the phone up with as well.
i did a full charge last night using the supplied ac adapter and this morning after 4 hours of battery i am still like at 98+% charge, it hasnt decreased at all. but ive also been in a full strength EVDO area.
prior to tonite ive primarily charged with the usb cable or cig adapter. and i remember reading on my cig adapter that its more of a temporary charge. so im thinkign the usb cabel charge is the same way...
i noticed with the ac adapter last nite it took almost 5 hours to get a complete charge until the phone would notify me the charge was complete.
so this of us with low battery concerns might want to try usign the supplied ac adapter to get a full charge and seeing how far that gets us...
I could see having the screen brightness highing making more of a difference with this phone since the screen is larger. On my i760 I usually start at 60%, use it for a week, bump it down to 50%, use for a week, bump it down to 40%, etc. etc. that way I gradually am able to lower it to 30-40% and it's not as noticable.

Hi, John
One thing I've noticed is that the Omnia is very slow to update Spb Pocket Plus, Today Taskbar, and Spb Mobile Shell Now screen batteries. To get a reliable battery reading right away, I've had to go to Start, Settings, System tab, Power Applet. It often shows that the battery is considerably lower than any Today screen, etc. meter before gool ol' WM (or whatever it is) decides to update those plug-ins. Perhaps it'a YMMV issue.
if you disconnect from data the battery life is superb!
i did a registry hack to make it so that after 5mins, it disconnects.
unless im online already...and it reconnects to check my push mail every 60secs.
also when i exit the net it disconnects if its i`ve been online longer than 5mins
um, life is GOOD in omnia land!

Sounds good. Do Incoming Calls still make it through no matter what state you are in? If so, I'd like to know the registry hack and I'm sure a bunch of others would, too.
I also have noticed this as well. SPB Mobile shell and the SPB Pocket Plus Battery meter have shown that I have more battery than windows mobile states.
So today, I have let my phone die completely - it will not turn on, and have been trying to charge it with the USB cable. (I was trying to reset the battery status so that it knows when it is fully discharged) It will not charge through the cable at all. I am wondering if it has to be on to negotiate something with the USB to charge it. Not sure, but at least I know not to run the battery completely down if I don't have the AC adapter.
