Do I also delete the #777 as well as the 1501, or just the 1501??
Robert
Hi, Robert
Ninja4Hire hasn't posted on pdaPhoneHome.com since 12/20/08 so you might want to PM him. I think his advice was to delete the value for SuspendResume but leave the registry entry. Other than that, the only other change was to reduce cachetime from 600 seconds to 60.
This is the single best thing I've found on this thread. For those who haven't tried it, not only does is provide a very clean, informative Today screen, but the functionality is really smart:
The option people were looking for to quickly switch the optical mouse between cursor and selector? It's right there with a button.
Turn the flashlight on and off with a screen button.
Set your ring, and all of your wireless manager modes with one button.
Without installing extra software. Nice, and thank you for porting that over from that "other site" (jk)

Good luck getting it to work. I still can't get it to work on mine without downloading the CAB thats been going around...
Playing around with SBSH Pocketweather. By default with small icons selected I get a 4 or 5 day forecast. Just by accident I rotated the screen to landscape. Suddenly a 9 day forecast! Who knew? Oh, well, I don't have much confidence in a forecast 9 days out. Especially in my area of the country.

I played around with the name of the jpeg file (cover art) and it has to be named "folder" for all your CDs to make it work correctly. So for example, if you have artist ABC and two CDs, X & Y listed under two files, each file will have a jpeg image for the cover art for CD X and Y and it has to be named "folder" and it will work for all the songs under that file.
Is there a replacement for the functionality of Phonealarm? (profile's and scheduled switching)
I'm amazed no one seems to be using it anymore? it's one of the absolute first programs I install on my PDAPhones ... the ability for it to recognize and automatically switch to a meeting profile based on my calendar events...
I find that one of the best tips/tricks in the book ... also having all alerts except the phone ringer go silent at night ... dropping the volume to 10% for the ringer on the phone and then having volumes come back up as I rise and shine ... not to mention silencing the work email while sitting at my desk staring at my workstation ...
Dangerous I remember you using and skinning it a while back ... Don't I??
Miata I know this isn't in the lines of the RegHacks we have been seeing but the tip/trick of auto sound profile controls ... one of the must haves for me ...
I have used it for many years and I think that it is a must. However I am having problems with the automatic call forwarding. I had an I760 before and it worked fine but with the Omnia I have had no success
I noticed that by the time I heard my omnia ring, the caller was hanging up. I remembered a thread about editing slot cycles in the i760 forum and looked it up. It worked perfectly.
Change "Last Name, First Name" Order to First then Last on the Omnia
Here's a general tip: Keep the discussion to a minimum in this thread and the tips to a maximum.
Here's my tip: The first thing that you notice after Verizon hands you your new Omnia i910 is that all the contacts in your phone book have been changed to an arbitrary "last name, first name" order. Even things like "Outback Steakhouse" get renamed to "Steakhouse, Outback". Who would want to use this? If it's in your contact list, don't you know everyone's first name already?
What's the solution? I saw a few places where folks have suggested copying everything to Outlook on your computer, changing it, then copying it back to their phone (or something to like that). Sounded like a lot of work, then you have to change all your new contacts after that point using the "file as" option in your contact list.
Easier solution? Just install "Contact Changer" and run the "ContactFix" program that it installs in your program list. It suggests making a backup which is probably a good idea. In my case, I still have a charge on my old cell phone so I knew Verizon could recopy all my numbers from that again if necessary. Anyway, the "Contact Changer" program is my happiest find yet. It permanently fixed the problem, as promised, with hardly any effort.
One thing though, clear out your cache in Opera and IE, because if you have 352 numbers in your contact list like I do, you're bound to eat into your memory big time as you process all that data. Wouldn't want you to lose your numbers and other contact info due to low available memory. Just a thought meant to cover my butt.
Tip on making posts in Tips & Tricks and Keeping Discussion to a Minimum

I agree with ETPhoneHome's suggestion in the post just before yours PLEASE DON"T PUT QUESTIONS, DISCUSSION in the Tips & Tricks thread- so here's a suggestion, which I've made before. You see a great tip, it doesn't work right for you, you search on a keyword or two to see if anyone has posted, you don't find anything. Start a new discussion thread about that tip - BONUS - you can be the first poster in that thread. And you can put a hyperlink in your post that refers participants back to the original tip, so you don't have to repeat that post to explain things to folks.
And, Tips and Tricksters! When you make a post in the Tips & Tricks thread, if it's as a result of an already existing thread on some topic, PLEASE, put a hyperlink in your tip to the appropriate place in that already existing discussion thread.
Perhaps too if your tip or trick is really major and you realize there is going to be a ton of discussion, e.g. how to install Windows 7 on your Omnia, you as the tip poster could kill two birds with one stone, post the tip in Tips & Tricks, start a new thread for discussion, and put links in each post crossreferencing the tip to the new thread and vice-versa.
You can search a thread, the forum, the whole PDAPhoneHome site, and you can search very generally, showing only threads, or specifically, showing individually posts depending on whether you use Advanced Search or not and how you configure it.
For those considering buying an Omnia (or any other Verizon phone), wait until after your 2 year contract has expired to garner the best deals. Verizon gets worried that they're going to lose you to someone else.
I purchased two Omnias (one w/ shared minutes) on the 1400 minute plan (which is what I had before). Because of the plan I was on and having a good payment history with Verizon, I received an Omnia for $49.99 ($269.99 - $70.00 rebate - $150 "contract up / good customer" discount) for the primary phone. The second phone was $199.99 after rebate, but they also gave me a credit for $80.00 towards my bill. I did have to remember and call the number on the paper they sent me (to get me to re-sign up) after I activated the new phones in order to get the $80 bill credit.
Maybe if I had waited longer they would have offered more. All I know is that I got a better deal than many folks have mentioned as the price they paid in these forums.
I have no clue what their current offers are. I got mine back in December. My 2-yr contract was up at the end of November.
Beware...kills battery much quicker...thinking about switching back
Weird...I have mine set at 0 and have not noticed any change in battery life. In fact, i took mine off the charger 7 hours ago and have been texting and using opera (about 10-15 minutes worth of browsing) and my battery still says 100%
Uninstalling old version before installing new rescues unsuccessful upgrade
Had a devil of a time upgrading to PhadPad 4.7. WMDC/Activesync asked if I wanted to uninstall old version before installing new and hung every time in removing the old, apparently.
At the point the .CAB file finally gave up trying to install itself after 2 soft resets, I removed the sync cable, went to Start->Settings->System->Remove Programs and manually removed the old version of PhatPad on my Omnia. Since I was installing from an .EXE file, connected up again, went back to WMDC Add/Remove Programs and checked the box to install PhatPad to my Omnia. This time the install went through without a hitch.
In uninstalling anything, you have to be careful to look out for any dialogs that ask if you want to remove program data files. Nice programs ask first.
