Screen taking too long to reorient, seems frozen after rotating the device or picking the Omnia up in the wrong orientation for its current screen direction?
Just a single tap with finger or stylus anywhere on the screen or the frame of a window/bar (be careful what you hit!) seems to trigger immediate screen reorientation (may be described in the manual, which I haven't bothered reading yet).
(might be simply because of movement in going to tap screen or haptic feedback vibration once triggered kicks the accelerometer's butt - haven't figured it out, just use it)

i think it also depends on the sentivity level you have the motion control set at. for me i have it set to the 2nd left and basically to give it a kick in the butt i usually just have to bring the phone to eye level.
Step 2 would be the same, you still need to create a folder.
Otherwise type opera:config in address field and it opens all sorts of changes you can make. Go to Cache and change the directory so it points to your new folder. No text editting...
Great find - however I don't see a directory in either Cache or Disk Cache sections.... What am I missing?

Go into user pref and look for Cache Directory 4. Make change to new folder there. (simply enter information and save changes).
I originally changed Opera via your method, then stumbled upon this change at Howard Forums. When I look under these settings, the change I made is already listed. So both changes perform the same function.
Summary of Gestures in Spb Mobile Shell that speed navigation
Spb Mobile Shell is GREAT. If you're not using it, you should be.
Here's a summary of gestures I've found particularly useful running Spb Mobile Shell on the Omnia. Any experienced user would know these but it might help the newbies get started if they fire up Mobile Shell and don't know what to do with it.
There are three main screens that you can move between in Spb Mobile Shell : NOW screen, MENU screen, and SPEED DIAL. Left to right gestures take you between these screens.
A vertical swipe up or down takes you to the Windows Mobile Today screen or whatever application you last launched, whether from Mobile Shell or the Today screen. Pressing the End Call button takes you to the Today screen.
The coolest one (and hardest to do right) is the swipe that jumps you back from whatever app you are in back to the Mobile Shell main screen of your choice.
Here's how to jump back to a main screen. While in an app like Mobile Word, touch and briefly hold the space in the V to the left of Verizon above your screen. Then firmly and quickly draw your finger a third of the way down the screen, stop, and wait. At first you'll see 3 gray playing card shadows and then they'll morph into minature versions of your NOW, MENU, and SPEED DIAL screens. Without lifting your finger, slide it over the screen you want to jump to.
To jump between apps (no brainer here), use the Omnia Taskbar and slide your finger up from the bottom of any screen. When the running task icons appear, touch the one that you want to jump to.
I'll create a Poll to vote on Spb Mobile Shell and put a link to it here.

Here is a trick I found on XDA. If you installed .NET 3.5, make your PPC use it as default and it should speed up your phone. But hey don't take my word for it.

I put a link to 3.5 on post #8 (install on a storage to save space. Since you won't be using .NET 2.0 anymore, I believe you can uninstall it.
Hi, Ninja
Showing my ignorance here, won't there be apps that make calls to .NETCF2.0 or does .NETCF3.5 have 100% backwards compatibility?
EDIT: Like it seems on a desktop PC, you still need .NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0 installed when you install v3.0 or 3.5 (the installer doesn't uninstall those, as you'd think it would if they were 100% deprecated).

Hi, TF
.NETCF3.5 is required for YouTubePlay and I installed 3.5 to \My Storage. Had no problems. YouTubePlay works Great!

This had me wondering so I did a little research. It seems you don't need 2.0, but you may need 1.1 if an older app requires it.

In addition to version 3.5 support, it also supports applications developed for version 1.0 and 2.0.
OK, thanks. How would one go about removing 2.0 exactly? It's not listed under "remove programs", though the 3.5 is. It's not necessary at this point, but should I run short on memory...
See that's the strange part. I did not have it in my "Remove Programs" either until I installed 3.5. Then they were both there. The only other thing I did first was install "Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3".

Hi, Ninja4Hire
I had a question but decided to start a .NETCF thread just for the excellent advice you're providing on this topic.
OK, so maybe this is obvious or maybe I'm losing my mind, or both. But for those of us that back-up using one of many tools (I prefer SPB...) we really should save these back ups to a removable storage card, not the "My Storage" space on the phone.
Because if the phone crashes and we need to get a replacement, there is no way to retrieve this info from the included 8GB storage space. Am I correct in this? If the phone won't boot, you won't be able to access anything that isn't removable. I do understand it will survive a hard reset, but if that doesn't work everything is lost.
I should also mention SPB Back-up does offer a desktop version which would allow you to sync your back-ups between your phone and pc without the need to have a storage card.

Yes, definitely a good idea to save any backups to a storage card and not the "my storage". A storage card is also a good place to keep all of your installer cabs/programs so you can easily re-install your progs too.
