In response to the very nice Boxwave charger/stand description; I instead opted to get a PowerStation device charger, and a small 4 port powered hub. I stuck the little powered hub inside, and I use the Powerstation to mount and power/connect my three devices.
Total cost was about $35, and I have my iPod, the phone, and a small portable USB hard drive mounted there, and attached to my laptop. I don't use ActiveSync with the PC, it only plugs in and charges the phone...
Ah! The truth comes out, Jon. You're an undercover agent for Verizon! (j/k)

I see I left myself open for that one! I MEANT that my company has an agreement with Verizon so I get THAT company discount. For sure, I am not a Verizon employee!
I wanted to get thoughts on buying a car charger for my Omnia i910.
With my employee discount, I can get it from Verizon for $22.49. I'm seeing third-party chargers for way less ($6, $9, $12). Should I stick with a real Verizon charger or can I trust these cheapo versions?
I would check out the Samsun Omnia site - I picked up the OEM car charger for $9.00 (got two actually) as well as a few other accessories - they were running some kind of special. Let me see if I can find the URL...

Thanks for the tip. It makes sense to use Samsung-branded accessories for sure. Unfortunately this was on backorder from Samsung but I found that model at plenty of other places. In fact I bought from Amazon for $7.01 shipped.
P.S. While at Samsung I save this item: AASP600SBE Portable Mini-Cube Stereo Speakers. Little speakers that plug right into the Omnia port. Anyone have any experience with them? Not expecting concert hall sound but I wonder what they do sound like for use on a picnic or something. Reg. $39.99 on sale for $19.99.

Yes - I bought those (figuring $20 bucks saved was a good thing ) Anyhow, haven't played with them a ton, but the do sound pretty good - they are pretty small (smaller than I thought) but put out good sound. Neat thing is that the touchplayer knows when you have them plugged in an and lets you change the "eq" preset - that is the grayed out "NORM" button right above the time interval... I wondered what made it work... there are a number of settings that I can't recall off hand, but the usual things like Pop, Rock, etc. so traditional "EQ" type settings.
Anyone else with the Boxwave cradle charger experience this problem?
Although it worked fine first time out, the next time I plugged in my Omnia it instantly killed my PC!! PC screen goes black, monitor says it has no signal. PC will not respond. Only way out is Power cycle reboot. It happens now every time I put the plug into the Omnia.
Power cable connected to outlet
USB connected to PC
Happens whether or not there is a spare battery in the charger.
Wonder if it's having both the power and the usb connected at same time plug makes contact? I will try pulling the usb. Plug into the Omnia then reconnect the USB.
Yep, it connected OK that way. Will be a nuisance to do this every time.
I wonder why it was OK the first time I used it?

I have always had the charger plugged in 1st, then plugged in the USB (probably simply because my laptop only has 1 free USB port and I am always plugging and unplugging stuff). But what OS are you using - and maybe without the power plugged into the charger 1st, the device is also trying to draw MUCHO current from your USB port and that's what's killing your desktop PC.

No, the Power and USB are already connected to the cradle when this happens.
Windows xp professional sp3. But the power should be coming from the transformer plugged into the cable. Maybe the power is feeding back thru the USB port for just an instant when they connect at same time. I guess I'll pretend I, too, have no USB ports unless I unplug something so USB stays disconnected until PPC is connected to Power, then plug in USB. Oh, the idiosyncrasies just go on and on, don't they!?

I created a thread to discuss the Boxwave problem to avoid putting too much into the Accessories thread. I don't have the problem with an HP Laptop, Vista SP1, no battery in the spare battery slot. wtherrell, maybe your charger is defective or it's an idiosyncrasy of WinXP SP3.
Check out these metallic skins for Korean Omnia(Haptic 2) in Korea. Haptic is manufactured for wireles provider company, Sky. Maybe an US-based accessories manufacturer can look at these and make a few.
They won't let me copy and paste pictures, but here's a couple of links to company that sell these on korean auction websites.
The location of buttons and some additional features(front camera, mirror next to back camera, etc) are different, but you can tell that this is the same phone as Omnia.
Any other reviews of the Invisible Shield by Zagg? I just installed mine 2 days ago and am having trouble getting used the soft plasticky feel of it now compared to how smooth and slick it was before. I almost want to return it but I'm wondering if I'll just get used to it. Anyone else?
I guess on the bright side it probably won't be as easy to drop it now. (Of course now that I've said that I'm sure to do so!)
I did manage to get most of the bubbles out by really saturating it with the spray solution on both sides of the skin during installation.
Thanks!

I installed just the screen protector (not the whole body protector) and I'm still on the fence about the whole thing. First, I didn't do a great job installing and have some flaws. You mostly see them when the phone is off.
I do miss the sheen of how it looked before the shield. On the other hand I feel just a little better knowing that a momentary lapse of reason may not result in a permanent scratch to the screen.
Like I said I'm undecided on the pros and cons so far.
What do you think the chances are for removal, cleaning and re-install?
Actually, the screen protector and back protector are the only parts I would keep since I know I would be completely bummed if those got scratched. Also those parts are the smoothest and don't have the plasticky feel, I really think it's really the side skins that I don't like.
The Zagg website says reinstall is not possible so I wouldn't go that route. However, they do have the lifetime guarantee and will replace for a shipping fee of $3.95. So if by some chance you did have a scratch on your screen protector they'll send you a new one.
Anyone else have the Invisible Shield?

I received these speakers I bought from Samsung. I certainly see why they weren't selling at $39.99 but at $19.99 they're functional. From the picture, I wasn't sure how big they'd be so I was surprise (or was I?) that each is about 2 inches square.
They sound a ton better than just the phone's speakers needless to say. They add just enough bass to make it listenable. I'll throw them in the glove box for emergency use in case a picnic pops up out of nowhere and no one has a boombox. They're nothing if not portable.
I just ordered a package of 15 Screenguardz for $9.99. They require no spray to apply and are removable / reusable. Similar to ones I used on my Dell Axim 15 of these should last me until it's time to change phones again!

Hi, wtherrell
How do they compare in stylus writing feel to the protector that came with the Omnia? Does the Screenguardz protector have the cutout at the top for the speaker/earphone? A great thing about the protector that came with the phone is that it seems almost indestructible. Relatively little wear-and-tear from all the stylus writing I have done on it. I'd like to know what brand that was since that's what I'd really be interested in ordering more of!

Hmm. I didn't seem to get a protector with my Omnia. There was a large sheet of film applied over the screen. It stuck out well beyond the margins of the phone and appeared to me to be just something applied to protect during shipment. I just threw that one away. If there was any other screen protector supplied I did not see it. Yes these do have the cut-out for the ear speaker. My only knock on them is getting the bubbles out. The sheet that came with the pack said that if the supplied card squeegie didn't get the bubbles out not to worry. They should disappear in a day or so. So far, they are still there after several days. I give it a couple more days and if the bubbles are still there then I will try to apply another using a little moisture.

Thanks for the info, wtherrell. If you use your stylus on your Screenguardz, I'm interested to know if it digs in at all. Some protectors I've used are relatively soft enough that the stylus tip actually drags a bit in the protector and eventually the stylus tip really wears the protector down.
My reaction intially to the plastic sheet that came with the Omnia was "this can't be a screen protector!?!" But it had the cutout for the speaker. It does go almost to the edges of the phone but if you're using a silicon case, like I am, it nicely keeps the edges of the protector under control. I've come to like it a lot as a durable, washable writing surface. I see on Amazon.com that there is an official Samsung i910 screen protector. It is just not currently available.
I've got the SGP screen protectors on order and should be recieving them any day now. I read some great reviews and watched a couple youtube videos about them. It seems that really the only knock is about finger prints. They do make a fingerprint resistant one but I opted for the other one because it "claims" an optical enhancer effect. What do you think? Sounds like a bunch of sales malarky but I'm always willing to try something once. I got the Zagg on the back of my Omnia because it truly does protect so well but I really don't care for the spongy/plastic like feel of it on the screen itself, personally. I'm like you though Jim, I love the one that came on the phone! If anyone is interested I'll post my reaction to the SGP Steinheil when I get it on and use it a bit.
