anyone get a screen saver yet? Looking at the Monaco screen protector. I don't want the type that uses adhesive. Would be best if it was like the protector that comes with the phone out of the box....

Ugh. The screen protector that comes on the phone out of the box is crap. I use the kit from BodyGaurdz. Protects the entire phone. Check out the video on their website.

I've heard good things on the other Omnia forums about Martin Fields and Purplemoo ... both about the same price... just debating which one to try first (or to just get 'em both)...

Hi, Jon

In another thread, Ninja4Hire provided an answer
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/766246-post2.html

I've officially asked SamsungUSA and will post their reply.

Quick check of a couple web stores confirms what Ninja wrote - ~just about all accessories are basically being sold for i900/i910 together.

Samsung Omnia Accessories, Samsung i900 / i910 Omnia Accessories

Samsung Omnia i910 Super Extended 3000mAh Lithium Ion Battery with Battery Door

I got my ProClipUSA i900 car holder today and it fits my i910 like a glove! Beautiful holder. I have to take off my Vzw silicone case to get the phone in the holder. Now to install TomTom Navigator 6!

ProClip mounts are an absolute must-have! They used to come with little hooks on the side of them to hang your headset but then the newer generation ones did not so I just screw in a small hook and voila - you can hang your charging cable and headset. Also, when I switched from the Q to the Q9m, I threw my Q mount in boiling water for a few minutes to soften it and then bent it outwards slightly to fit the Q9m! Nice and customizable! Dont forget the male/female quick adapters so you can quickly move your mount from car to car or boat or whatever.

Risks to Omnia sides on using ProClip Mounting Bracket

One rather awkward thing about the Omnia power connector location is it's right along the track of the mount grip. So you can't pry the cover off the adapter slot BEFORE you slide the Omnia into the mount grip. Otherwise, as the Omnia slides down along the track of the mount grip, the adapter cover would be torn off.

You have to try to pry the cover off the side of the Omnia once the Omnia is seated in the mount, which could be awkward if you like to mount your phone just to the right of your steering wheel. Then you'll have to remember to plug the adapter cover back in again before you pull your phone out, otherwise you'll rip the cover off on the way out! (brilliant engineering, Samsung! duh. I wonder why we put the connectors on the bottom on all those other devices?)

EDIT: Mounting the Omnia upside down in the ProClip puts the power adapter safely above the mount but swaps the stylus attachment bracket into the risk zone inside the bracket. The Omnia can be mounted into the holding bracket by sliding it in sideways, lowered almost into position. Upside down, the Omnia works better with TomTom Nav6 in portrait mode, too.

With this speak of batteries or extended batteries, has anyone noticed this from the operator's manual?

"Using A Non-Supported Battery
Samsung handsets do not support the use of a non-supported
battery.
When using a non-supported battery, you will hear a series of
beeps and you will see a warning message that indicates “NONSUPPORTED
BATTERY. SEE USER MANUAL.” If you receive this
warning, battery charging has been disabled.
Samsung charging accessories (i.e. wall charger, and cigarette
lighter adapter) will only charge a Samsung approved battery."

What does non-supported mean exactly? Only Samsung? Will third party options work?

I use the same kit from BodyGaurdz and it is not hard to install at all. You spray the sheets with a watery liquid before appying. That allows you to move the sheet into the perfect position before it really sticks to the phone.
Just take your time and rub out the bubbles.

if you guys want a nice horizontal case get this

its from palm. but the bottom is hard and not soft like other cases and also gives a pretty fit so it doesn't move around in the case.
i got mine for 30.

I saw that notice...

You might try:

ElectraSpan™ Extended Battery for Samsung Omnia i900

They say it will work with both the i900 and i910.

They also have a non-samsung retractable data/charge cable that is supposed to get around the games Samsung is doing with regards to charging as well.

Has anyone found another audio/power splitter besides this one:

Samsung 20 Pin Multi Adapter - Original (OEM) AAET254CBE

This one is rather clunky and only has a 2.5mm audio jack

In the thread about surviving a fall, I posted that I ordered the Invisibleshield and someone asked what the experience would be installing and using.

I just received the two kits I ordered today. I ordered one for my iPod Nano and one for my Omnia. I figured after watching the installation video that I would install the easy one on the iPod first and get the hang of it, then install the phone protector.

Installation on the iPod was not too difficult, considering it was only a front, back, and the control panel circles. I found that the applicator spray dries up on your hands really quickly, so I had to keep spraying. The plastic is really sticky on the sticky side - so much so that the applicator spray made almost no difference in the ability to move the piece around when you place it. I had to actually RIP the piece off a few times to replace. That's really difficult when you're trying to not get finger prints all over the plastic. Also, the edges that wrap around would not stay down. I had to wait for them to dry a little, and stretch and hold them there for about 4 minutes each side.
So, 1 hour for the little iPod Nano. I went to the gym, an hour later came back and sat down to tackle the phone.

Same idea, did the big panels first - front, then back. On the front, I noticed that the plastic stuck so firmly that I could not squeegee all of the applicator spray out from under it. Now, I'm looking at about 5 or 6 one to two mm bubbles of applicator spray on the face, and trying to figure how I'm going to get them out. I might poke them with a tiny needle and drain.

The surface of the Omnia on the face and sides was MUCH easier to apply the plastic on. For the sides I placed it, then stretched it slightly where it wraps around, and got a surprisingly good fit. I noticed that the plastic tended to fall flat against the surface and the bubbles were automatically pushed to the outer edge. For the little pieces on the buttons, there was no point in putting the spray on the pieces. I just carefully aligned an edge, and plopped them into place.

For the plastic back, it was tougher to get the bubbles out. I still have a few trapped in there. I removed the back to apply that, rather than keeping it on the phone.

Overall the plastic is tight all around, and has a very nice easy to grip, rubbery feel. It's really super-durable, and I can press a finger into it, and it bounces back. As I try to stretch it to work bubbles out, it shows no blemishes as a result of the stress. I can tell that this will totally eliminate the slippery hand syndrome that causes the dropsies. The plastic completely covers the back speaker near the camera lens, but the sound is not affected. The plastic is completely transparent, and actually looks like a gloss finish, sprayed on.
One concern I have is as I run my hand around the phone, I can feel the edges, and I can imagine over time that the edges would lift and even fray. The surface is such that in cotton pants, I can imagine it wouldn't just slip in, but would kind of stick on the way down...

As I execute functions on the phone, the face has suffered no sensitivity loss, or accuracy loss at all. However, I have mentioned before I'm one of those ex-PDA users who does a lot of handwriting on my phone. In short - this protector 'ain't gonna work' on the front. I'm going to have to replace the front with one of my trusty Palm PDA faceplate protectors, that is handwriting-friendly.

$25.00 is a little steep for this protector. It's a lot of work to put on. I can see that it provides a lot of protection, but the thought that in a harsh environment I might have to replace it in a year, would make me think twice. I can tell that most of the cost of this product is in packaging. I now have two spray bottles of application solution the size of an oversized bottle of Binaca breath spray that are almost full. The packaging is ridiculously like a DVD with a three part foldout box. Totally unnecessary. The same thing could have been achieved for less money with a plastic spray applicator and the plastic parts in a bag. Probably would have brought the cost down to $15, resulting in better sales.

By coincidence I received and installed just the front protector from InvisableShield last night. It's $15. I decided to do just the front primarily because I used the ProClip holder in my car and it fits like a glove. I was worried that the two would not play nicely with each other and I was more worried about a screen scratch then the rest of the device.

I suppose it installed as advertised though it's maybe 1-2 mm short from covering the entire screen face width. I'm not sure why but there's a small (3 mm) hole in the upper right corner in the border of the screen (right of "Verizon"). I don't see a use for this hole and it detracts from a cleaner appearance.

I have one micro fiber trapped underneath that keeps it from looking almost invisible. I followed the directions but I suppose one would have to be in a perfectly sterile environment to keep it from happening.

On the down side it's not as good looking (shiny) as when the screen was at its cleanest. On the other hand simple use does not leave the fingerprints that it did before the shield. So generally it leaves a cleaner look to the screen.

It's not perfect but I suppose I can sleep a little better knowing that I have less chance for an accidental screen scratch that I have to look at for the next two years. If that fiber drives me nuts (as a scratch would) I wonder how difficult removing and replacing the shield will be if I wanted to spend another $15.

Maybe it's an InvisibleShield actually made for the i900, which has a front-facing "webcam," unlike the i910. Or maybe InvisibleShield thought the i910 had the same cam? I'd let them know and maybe they can fix you up with one without a hole and change their packaging before they get too many other less than 100% satisfied customers.

Son of a gun! Wish I would have done my due diligence! Going back to zagg.com shows they indeed had a different protector for the i910 then the i900! And it's only $11.95! ($3 less because they did not have to make the hole?)

I started to just get the idea that i900s and i910 were synonymous and got lazy but I've learned my lesson! Grrr! No one but myself to blame for this one.

Now I'm back to previous question about what might I be in for should I decide to right this wrong and reinstall the protector and eat the $15 "lesson".

The say "And if you ever need to remove the invisibleSHIELD, no problem; it comes off clean and leaves no sticky residue."
