Resco Radio, FUN!

I've been playing with Resco Radio all day. It's a pretty nifty product.

Since I wasn't crazy about their pre-selected stations, though they have many, I went to SHOUTCAST.

There's gazillions of stations there. I just clicked the TUNE IN button. When prompted to open or save, I saved. You'll save a file called shoutcast.pls or something like that. Rename it to the name of the station. So if it's an 80's hit station, rename the saved file from shoutcast.pls to 80s.pls (or whatever you want.) Copy that file to your PPC and use Resco Radio's import feature.

Kabam! 1000's of stations to listen to. Fun.

It works great when using the cradle's pass-thru to my PC. It's also been pretty hot with EVDO. Don't know how 1x would work.

Yup, thanks for that. I'm playing with both. At the moment, the only difference is Resco's "prettier" interface. Until and unless Resco adds support for other formats, free might just be the way to go.

Resco is pretty cool! They even have Indian music under world music. I'm gonna blow my friends away with this thing!

How did you get it to work. I downloaded the file and installed it and when I select one of the preset buttons like "smoothjazz" it says connection error! at the bottom of the screen. Am I missing something?

Don't know what you're missing. You have to be online with the phone. Either through the cradle and PC or via EVDO/1x.

Usually you can just click on the Internet icon on the top status bar, then click on the #777 that appears. Either way, though, once online -- as you see -- all is fine.

If you have it set to use the PC passthrough it is using your cablemodem.

Just click the icon on the top status bar and it will say PC Connection if it's using it.
