Sorry to ping everyone, but my i730 died and Verizon replaced it. Now I will need to spend the next several weeks getting it back into shape. I tried to find that great utility "Path" but the link comes up empty. Anyone know where I can find it?
Also I'm trying to load TOMTOM and while it loaded very easily on my older i730, I'm having trouble getting the job to complete on the new one. both are MS Mobile 2003 and Tomtom is the same edition. New OS on my laptop (VISTA) could be the problem.
Also need that great REGEDIT program I've seen on the forum but that link is gone as well. Guess the i730 is now consider old technology

to use the path command open the phone keypad and type **7284 (which is the same thing as **path) and the usb modem switch screen will come up.
I belive MRailing has regedit.exe included in his "setup" package that you will find in the new permanent posts (use to be stickie, now the threads at the top of the forum with a yellow background.)
There are actually two different ways to bring up the tethering application, but it depends on your OS and radio version. This information is in the FAQ (which is a good place to start when looking for information).
For the YE05 firmware, you dial **PATH (**7284)
For any other firmware, you dial **UPATH (**87284)
With WM5, they included a shortcut, and it's in the System area of the phone (in the settings tab).
That's the easiest way to get it done...

Thanks for the information. I'll work through the FAQ, so I'm sure I may find what I'm looking for. Did get "totalcommander" loaded last nigth. had to save it and "run as administrator" to get it installed, but it's working now.
One follow-up. On my previous i730, the code was **7284. Now it requires the **87284. Does that mean I need to follow the instructions to downgrade the phone so I can use the theathering feature?

You need to check your radio stack. If you are using WM5 with ZB21 firmware, then you either need to downgrade or use something like PDANet to tether. If you have YH25 (which would be the only other firmware with **87284), then you don't need to downgrade.
I have ZB21, and use PDANet...

The Regedit utility is available in the Great MRT (MRailing Toolkit) as mentioned before ... you can also get them at PHM Registry Editor : Pocket PC Edition
