MRAILING EDIT - This is just for discussing the OZAN Suite for the iPhone skin and lock. For the free version of the software, go here:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsu...ans-suite.html

I don't understand why you guys are spending so much time on this.

Go here: http://www.ozankilic.com/?p=31

I donated $10 through paypal and he sent me a link for a download site where I downloaded the whole thing. It's about 5 cab files, but when its done, I have a completely new interface on my phone. It uses wisbar advance and the desktop application to make everything work. The slider is bulletproof, the clock works fine, I custom assigned all of the buttons to be the applications I want, even the phone dialer screen matches the theme. Everything matches, everything works. Its not just a launcher that you can inadvertently close, it IS the full interface of the phone. I love it. I don't think I'll ever go back. So many things are so much simpler than they were before. Opening programs... cake. Hitting the x in the upper right corner 'actually' closes them. Its an amazing interface, and it puts Windows to SHAME.

$10 for wisbar and $10 to this guy for his files. Can you really go wrong for $20?

No.

I don't need wisebar, I don't need a launcher and I fixed the slider to my needs. Free and I enjoyed doing it.

I agree that what you've done is darn convenient if you just want the slider. For anyone who wants the launcher and wants that look on their phone, going the route you've gone doesn't even get you half way there...

JustinB - I picked this up from Ozone before he upped the price . However I believe that it kills the battery life on my device. I think it has to do with the animation of the slider (the text message in the slider..) Never lets the device suspend. I suspect that the app that Tange1 and I were working with as well might have the same problem.... Also, you need flashplayer loaded on your PPC to use the slider since that is what Ozone has coded it in.

Anybody else notice battery life issues with these animiation-active locks???

I downloaded the Ozone version as well, and I can't be happier. I realize that we have some "locals" working on the same thing, but I can't tell you how amazing this "theme" is. This guy thought of everything! In fact, if you've read any of my most recent threads you'd see that I've been having nothing but problems with my i730 making and receiving calls. I'd have to soft-reset over and over several times a day. With this theme installed, I haven't had ANY problems with the phone! It works as it's supposed to. I also haven't noticed any battery drain. In fact I am running the autostep at 520 again.

Well worth the $10 donation!

Mike

Unless you've replaced other themes on your device w/ this one it would make ZERO sense that the device would be more stable w/ this theme. Unless you uninstalled some things before you installed his theme you didn't make your phone more stable. This is simply another app running on WM. No way would it make your device more stable except perhaps if you changed your habits on how you use the device. It's good things are running smoother for you but just for everyone else out there: A theme isn't going to make your device more stable.

tange1,

I'm not going to get into a p***ing contest with you about this. I respect everyone on this forum that is here trying to help people like myself with there issues with their ppc's. I didn't want to step on anyone's toes that are working on this sweet app that are from this forum, so I didn't want to bring up the fact that I bought the "other" version. BUT I can tell you exactly what I've done and you tell me the reason for the more stable ppc. I already had wisebar "running" on my phone before this "mod", so I didn't install it from the new theme. In fact I didn't uninstall anything before the new theme. I even still have my weather program running in the background (eventhough it doesn't show up with the new theme, it's still running.) I installed everything else that the theme needed (included in the $10 price). I've had to soft/hard reset my phone so many times and so frequently that I've really never had to worry about the 30 day trial period on most of my apps, because I reload them (1 at a time) to see what causes my probs. The answer is NOTHING specific seems to be the culprit. I install a program and let it run for a day or two, and my phone will most likely have probs, so I hard reset again and try another program.....wash, rinse, repeat until I finally figured out that if I just left my phone as it was off the shelf, it would run fine. But if I added anything to it, it wouldn't allow me to place or answer a call until I soft-reset. Then I'd have to soft-reset after that call to place or receive another. This, by the way continued with this forums version of the iPhone theme. I installed all the software that the iPhone theme (I paid for) had, and I haven't had to soft or hard reset my phone AT ALL. I did soft-reset it right after the final program was installed on it from the iPhone package, but that's the last time, and I choose to do that, not because of problems. The phone (and other features) just plain works as it is supposed to. Everytime.

I agree with you, ZERO sense....

Mike

I wasn't trying to start anything with you. I was being completely polite and honest when I said what I said. It's hard to read emotion behind typed text but I wasn't trying to call you out as liar. I just don't want to mis lead anyone. If it works for you, great, but at least we are in agreement that it shouldn't make a difference.

Mike/dbldare - I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that if the only way you could ever get your i730 to operate properly without having to reset all the time, was to use it "clean" with no installed software, then for one reason or another, you must not have been installing software properly. For nothing to work properly, and cause you to always reset, indicates to me that the common denominator in that equation is whatever you are doing in installation of any program.

Granted, there are some software that can create an instability on the i730, and likewise, installing things one at a time to assure stability is good policy. But when you say that the phone is instable after installation of any single piece of software, then either your phone is bad, or the installation process you are using is faulty.

I would ask what you are installing, and where you are installing it to. Programs that access the today screen through plug-ins nearly always have to be installed to the main memory, and will cause problems if installed anywhere else. Programs designed for a different Processor than in the i730 could create problems.

But, this is already a discussion that is moving away from the thread's topic, so we will stop here.

/end thread hijack

Tange1,

Totally sorry for misreading your thread. I've read your posts and know that you are not one who "flames" someone who doesn't know something here in the forum. Sorry again for my mistake.

tsatryan,

I guess I would have the same advice if I was on the other side of the keyboard, and someone was asking me for advice. I have been in the IT field, both hardware and software for about 20 years now, just to give a quick background. I realize that putting something in the wrong area could cause problems, but I feel that wether I use a cab file or install directly from an exe on the computer, I've put the software in the correct "partitions". But, even if I didn't, and let's say that I installed a desktop weather app, it shouldn't really depend on the installation area (minus the fact that if I don't have the SD card in and I installed it there) for simple phone use. When I say phone, I mean the actual phone calls. You probably read earlier, but it shows connected when I place a call, and I can't hear anyone and they can't hear me. In fact the volume on my phone drops to 0 when I'd place or receive a call, but even bringing that back up didn't help. I'd have to soft-reset and then it would work for that call and maybe another. I didn't hard or soft reset my phone before installing the, 2nd, let's call it iPhone theme, and instantly it worked without a hick-up. I kept having that antisipation of will my call work or not each time I would answer. No more! I don't know why, but it just works. It actually started as a joke with some of my IT staff that are Mac users. They are the ones that came up with the idea of even though it's not a Mac program, it works! LOL!

pw-man,

I haven't followed the progress of this software, but maybe when he upped the price is when he came out with the "newer" version. This is the version that Justin and myself have bought, and I couldn't be happier. I think I can speak for Justin as well, because after a few emails back and forth it's clear that he couldn't be happier either. We were both surprised how well everything works and how easy it is to "customize" everything.

I understand what you are saying, Mike, and I don't doubt your credentials at all here. And, although this continues to hijack the thread, my first thought after reading your response is that it sounds like you had installed phoneAlarm, but didn't go through every single setting and specifically configure it. That is the kind of error that you can get from doing that.

Regarding SD cards, and I'm sure you are aware of this, but their response time is significantly slower than the main memory, which may cause problems with programs installed there that are memory intensive.

Hmm, here's another option which may be less buggy - worth taking a look at - It's $10 and it's called iLaunch. Now as you can see in the video the creator was concerned with actions from Apple, but with a name so close to iLauncher they may instead need to worry about SBSH

ozone

TO use the ozone theme, do you need to but WisBar Advanced and Wisbar Desktop? I noticed that it uses both of these.

Thanks

justinb, pw-man, or dbldare,

I'm installing the package from http://www.ozankilic.com/?p=31 and when I attempt to load the iphone_wad theme I keep getting the gwes.exe error. so I've turned error reporting off. Now it just sitting with the "spinner spinning" for a really long time when trying to load the theme. Is this normal?

Edit: Never mind . . . I got it working - turns out I mistakenly was trying to set the custom theme to iphone_wa after starting wisbar, when the correct way is to NOT have wisbar running when you use wisbar settings to set the custom theme.

Did you make a $10 donation to him, or just d/l the old version that is listed on his site? The new $10 version is light years ahead of the old version that is listed.

I had headaches with the old one, but when I switched to the new it installed flawlessly

Sorry guys. It's hard for me to log on during the weekend, but I'll try. Let me know if you have any questions about the "Ozan" version. I as stated before, I can't explain why my phone works these days, but after this iPhone theme install it works perfectly. Calendar appointments come through with either the slider screen or the "home" screen running, as do all my calls. Truthfully I haven't had a hic-up in over a week now. That's unheard of for my phone, it used to freak out several times a day.

P.S. - I like the way the phone locks with the slider screen on. No buttons hard or soft work while on this screen. When you "activate" the slider the phone goes back to the state it was in with the "normal" locker on the power switch.

Mike

I've got a question regarding the Ozan download for anyone that is using that version. I've dl'd the program to my PC. Where do I go from there?

I've figured out the install to a certain extent. Where do I find the registration code for Wisbar Advanced Desktop?

EDIT: Nevermind. I figured it out.
