Activesync is killing my tethered connection

is there something that I can do to get my tethered connection to over-ride activesync?

Here's the situation. I have AS set to sync my mail every 5 minutes...but when I'm tethered, it will kill my tethered connection with no way to re-establish...other than a phone reboot. So I connect...work...get kicked...reboot...connect etc...

I can lengthen the synch time to let me tether, but when I'm done I need to put it all back.

thanks for the help.

How are you tethering? (PDANet, VZAccess, or **PATH/**UPATH)

Any time your device tries to connect to data, it takes priority over a tethering connection and bumps the connection. Your best bet is to turn off ActiveSync while tethered and turn it back on, as with ANY applications that try to access data.

I'm just hooking up the USB cable, then I go into the settings and select "as a modem theough USB..." then I start my connection on the PC. That all goes well, but then the AS will start...and kick me off...but it will never reconnect....even if I drop the connection, and start it again.

How exactly do I shut off AS on the device? There is a setting for schedule, but I didn't see a way to simply shut it off.

Are you using Activesync to an exchange server? If so you just set activesync to manual, then it won't attempt to sync.

How are you activesyncing, exchange or pop or Wireless Sync?
