I have had portable keyboards and they tend to drive me crazy! To make them portable they are smaller, the keys are often in odd places, they fold up around your legs while sitting on your lap if they don't have a locking mechanism... I don't always have the option of using it on a nice flat surface. I'm looking for a way to use a regular full size keyboard in my car to log client appointment notes to my phone. And I'm not very proficient with the thumb board.

Have you checked out the Targus foldout keyboard...it locks in place.

Yep even had one for awhile, but with my palm. What I was exploring is a way to get a full size keyboard to work with my i730.

I doubt an ir adapter will givew you what want, but I have the targus blue tooth keyboard...it snaps in place and is the exact same size as the qwerty on my Dell notebook...I am 6ft 5 and have huge hands, but it works fine...it is a pretty penny though, but for the travelling I do it was worth it. But you might be able to modify a BT desktop keyboard to work on your 730.

Mark, check out this thread, specifically the links in my post at the bottom:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsu...oard-i730.html

It was started a couple of days ago, and I posted links to many of the full size keyboard discussions...

Thanks Mike... I saw that thread and have done similar searches... I was just curious if anyone had played with this gizmo...
Yawn-Thanks for the suggestion... but I've never been a big fan of laptop keyboards either. Just my personal preference. I work on everyone else's Keyboards all day doing various IT support so I get a good feel for them. So I figure for setting up my little mobile station I would get what I find the most comfortable. In the end I'll probably figure out how to get a full BT keyboard working with my phone at others have.
Thanks all
Mark

Well. I know the size of the a desktop and lap top keyboard are usually the same, as is my BT protable one...but, the feel of those are very different...the desktop does have a deeper key set, with a more solid stable feel. In fact when at home, I link a BT desktop keyboard to my laptop for these very reasons. That is what I am doing right now in fact...I just tried to put myself in your shoes and though comfortable, lugging this around would get old quickly to me...hope my comments didn't offend you.
Sidebar, I think your better off with the BT keyboard...the IR thing has always been far more sketchy in my opinion than BT. Anyway, just trying to help.

No offense taken... in fact thank you for your input... Sounds like you understand my preference to a full keyboard. It's not going to be a luggin' around thing... I'm going to likely leave it my car so I can make notes between client stops. My goal is to be able to put my notes into my phone where the rest of my calendar and todo lists are, I'll be able to sync it right into my time and billing app. And I just have a ton of surplus PS2 keyboards.. I was looking for a way to use one.

Your last post before it said you were wanting a full sized keyboard, and that's why I mentioned the previous thread with links to many of the full sized keyboard discussions, as I didn't know if you saw those.
