I have a used I730 with WM5 on it, and I just downloaded Activesync 4.5. When I attached the iI730, the message said that I cannot sync contacts, calender, etc without Outlook.
I have a new PC with XP on it. Appearantly Outlook did not come on it. Is Outlook free? If so, where can I get it?
If not, is there a free product out there that I can use to sync/view all of my information? I think it's BS if I have to buy something just to be able to sync/view my PDA information as the Palm world provided this for free.
Outlook is provided for free with the i730 (and other windows mobile devices)... who ever you got yours from apparently did not give you the outlook that came with it.
Well if you bought it used, you didn't get everything. The original i730 were shipped with a copy of Outlook. Part of the concept behind Windows Mobile devices is that you will use Outlook, which is why they have provided a copy of it with the device in the past.
Now you can use Wireless Sync and sync the information with Verizon's servers and leave the information there, but Outlook is not a free piece of software, unless it was provided with the device. I no longer have my copy, otherwise I would send it to you, but maybe if someone else has their copy that they don't need because they already own it, they would send it to you if you were willing to pay for shipping.
I will continue to look, but I don't think I have it any longer and have thrown it out.

Don't blame Microsoft, they provided Outlook with the i730, blame the person you bought it from for not giving you a copy...

Your right. I guess I'm just a little PO'd because I didn't know this up front, and now I can't use the device as intended. I guess saving a few bucks on eBay isn't always worth it.
