Hello, I downloaded the Cingular 8525 Icon and it always switches to the generic PPC when connected.
I have carefully changed the icons in the Vista's profile as well as the 8525 windows dir. I've re-booted, removed the driver in device manager, I've removed and re-installed WMDC 6.1 and the problem persists no matter what. I see the correct icon in all other views except the large screen view. I've spent a couple of hours and the only thing I've found is that deleting partnerships and re-syncing blows away my Cyberion voice tags
Is this icon OK? What editor do you use to view and create these?
Thanks for any insight!

I have been busy recently, but when I can (maybe the end of this week), I will attempt to make the icons.
RemE, all the icons should work without issue. Re-follow the steps and try it again from the first one on.

I tried it several times from step 1. If I look in the folders, the icons are the 8525, but upon connection it's pulls up the generic image from somewhere that I can't find....

Hi! Great post! I have succeded with no problems previously with WM5 and Vista. Now I migrated to WM6 and the only thing that is stopping me from succeding is that the sync.ico file, in PDA\Windows is read only (probably in ROM) and can not overwrite it.
Would be glad if someone found a workaround.
Thanks!
Cheers!

I have tried another thing, just I left the sync.ico in the Windows directory in the PDA.
If you already have plugged the PDA you should uninstall the drivers from the PC, just go to the Control Panel -> System -> Device Management and in Mobile Device right-click and uninstall the Mobile Pc, unplug the PDA, wait 30 secs and plug it again and voila!
Nobody here with ideas regarding hacking the icon if device has WM6?
Download Total Commander or Resco and copy the file with it. They will "overwrite" the file in ROM (it actually is still in ROM), but the OS sees the file in Storage Memory instead.).
