While supplies last! - i730 discontinued?

The Verizon Website is listing our precious phone as While supplies last!

Maybe I should get a spare, as I seem to be dropping mine alot lately.

This may be good news for those waiting for the i760. VZW seems to clear stock before they bring in something new.

ahhh speculation is a naughty beast, but lets all hope! If they are moving stock on the 730 than i guess that shows some hope of something new. Lets just keep our fingers crossed fo that 760.

The slide from the Verizon presentation said Q2 for the i760. I would say they are moving the i730 out for the 6800 and will run it in conjunction with the 6700, and then probably retire the 6700 in Q2 when the i760 is released, as the 6700 came out after the i730, around 6 months after, which would put it in the same time frame.

I knew they were going to stop carry the i730. That is why I just upgraded to it then w/ insurance so when they are out of stock "when my phone breaks" i will have to get the upgraded model. That is what I am wishing for to happen.

My guess is they are getting rid of I730 stock to bring in the 700WX (rumors have that at 01/29/07) ... but my rep is telling me there are "major" issues with the software working on the network ... which I don't understand since it's my belief that the wx is just a 700 on steroids (twice the program memory) ... but that would be my guess ... I've considered getting another 730 just to go back to 2003 .... so many things that I have don't play well with WM5 ... then again .. it's nice to be able to run the battery into the ground and not loose anything ... if they would of put a camera on this phone ... I'd of gotten three or four as spares ... but alas ... VZ once again ... missed the boat

I don't know how easy it is to do this, but a friend of mine that frequents the site aparently got his WM5 downgraded from Windows Mobile 5 back to 2003, because he knows how to do that kind of stuff. If I get any word on it, I'll let you /the community know if you or anyone else wants to know..that is if its something a lay personal can figure out and do themselves.

The i730 was like $800 when it first came out. What makes you think they'll just give you a new i760 in place of the i730 thats now what, some $199 or so? If you can get it cool, I just would love to know how that would work.

if they are out of stock, the insurance will replace with "like" item. it may not even be a Samsung.. so, have fun.
You might get a Blackberry.heh.

nope! You would not get a BB. Would never happen, unless for some reason you suggested it as an alternative or agreed to it without knowing any better. The replacement phone must have "like features". BB and Widows OS have little like features. Insureance once tried to send me a plam and I put a stop to that. I just said, "no I need a windows device." You however will be surprised how long they keep the i730 in stock. Perhaps others will remember how long the i700 was in stock and then mulitiply that by how many more i730's have been sold. You are talking a long wait to get an upgrade through this method. The days of breaking you phone and getting an automated upgrade are passing. Although I started with a Thera and was swithced to the i700 and now becuase of a theft was upgraded to the i730.

Ok.. So you said it would never happen. THen you go on to say that insurance once tried to send you a palm. Sounds a little contradicting. Could it have happend if you let it? I believe so.
I still have a New I700 That i keep charged and charge about every 2 weeks. I still have the I600 as well. Since i have been through 8 I730's the Stock that you are implying that they have won't be around as long as you think.

The other thing to remember is that the phones they send you for insurance/repair are not the same phones they sell in stores. All of the warranty/insurance replacements are remanufactured phones, not new sales. I'm sure they will have plenty of those on hand to replace the ones we break.

I have heard of people getting different phones without suggesting it, but I think it was a mistake... And suggest away! What can it hurt, they might go for it I can attest to it. I was able to get the i730 as an insurance replacement for a kyo7135, a palm based flip that was 3yrs old. I just had to tell them that the thier replacement wouldn't work for me, and I suggested an alternative.

And yes the phones they replace can be the same ones they sell in the store... mine was an NIB (new in box) i730... Yes they will send refurbs initially but its my understanding after three bad ones they will send you a NIB!

In my experience I had one jerk manager I talked to at Verizon actually TRIED to get me another device implying the i730 has been nothing but problems, and that I didn't..no..SHOULDN'T want it anymore. He refused to give me a new phone, because I went through 3 refurbs, and sent them all back without activating them..so I had to go through 3 other refurbs, activated them, and then called back, got a nice manager and CSR, and they made sure I got a new i730.

The jerk manager tried to "help me" "upgrade" by pushing a Treo and a 6700 on me. Im like "WHAT am I going to UPgrade to since theres nothing better than the i730??..what youre doing is suggesting I downgrade". He didnt know what to say. So theres at least one other way to get another phone..and thats by getting a Verizon rep whos a jerk.

Don't forget that any phone you break or send back with issues that don't involve total distrcution will most likley be sent back out after a refurb job. I think I've been through 3 i730's too. Let's start a betting pool. I get them 36 months of sending out i730's.

Just bought last one at local store for $99.99!

Hello everyone. I just found this site a big help while researching phones. Based on the great information here I decided to go with the i730 for my new every two upgrade. I went into my local verizon store and they didn't have the i730 on display and I had to ask about it. The salesman checked and had one unit in stock. I purchased thinking it would be the $199 that I have been seeing on their website after my renewal discounts, but to my surprise it rang up $99.99! I love the phone so far (especially for the price), and successfully upgraded it to WM5 last night (after having the stuck at 73% problem, which was fixed with the samsung upgrade instructions)

I'm tempted to purchase the i730, I'm trying to hold out on a new 2 year upgrade from my old phone. Verizon is sooo slow with new phone releases. How much longer in the dungeon must I stay.
