8 GB SD Card ?

Is there an 8 GB SD Card available for purchase that works reliably with i730? If not when is the estimated arrival date of 8 GB cards? or maybe 16 GB?

Can anyone else confirm thiis? Everything I've read says 4 GB is the limit of standard SD cards. and SDHC nwhich is what all 8 GB cards are) shouldn't work.

well, samsung said that we couldn't use anything other than a 2GB.. Now several of us have 4GB. I wouldn't doubt the phone has components that can handle 16GB and beyond.

I especially would like this as I just bought a stereo bluetooth headset and TomTom v6 (1 map all 50 states). I have little space for my MP3's after the maps.

Could you fill it with 8 GB of information and see if it reads and writes to the card still? I am sure it will "see" the size, but I am curious if it can read/write to the full extent of the card.

If the card reads in the i730 then it's good.

I'd like to hear another person that has got one running though.

Ya, the card reads or it doesn't it's not a question of how full you could get it.

I am kinda surprised by this as well. Still waiting to hear another person.

I picked up an 8GB Transcend SDHC card. Not only doesn't the i730 see it, but neither does my new latop or home desktop with a card reader. I'm hoping it's just DOA, but not sure what else I can find to try it with!

Your PC at home wont. If the reader on the PC is part of the mother baord (like mine is) you wont be able to upgrade it. Mine cant even read a 2GB card. Toshiba laptop......just over a year old.

With the FAT type file systems in particular, it is easy for it to report one size, but then happily trash your data instead of properly writing/reading it.
The file size reported doesn't mean the entire card is accessible.

I just received my 8GB Transcend SD card today. I'm having the same problem as thwagmostar. My i730 can't see it and neither does the card reader for my laptop.

Looks like the i730 doesn't support the 8 GB SD card. See response from supplier:

Patrick,

Unfortunately, we have found that your device is not compatible with the
card that you have purchased, so instead of issuing you a replacement
that would be incompatible, we have just refunded your credit card for
your order. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we didn't want to
waste your time or ours with replacing the card with another,
non-functional card.

If you have any further questions or if we can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to email us back. You may also contact us at 800-979-9707 and we shall gladly answer your questions.

Always here to assist you,

Bad (albeit expected) news, but what great customer service. Sounds like a company I'd definitely buy from in the future.

Hello? You there? Which SD Card were you saying worked? Transcale? A non name brand I see on there? What exactly do you mean by saying it "worked" in the i730? Thanks.

Hey I just asked the fastmemoryman dood at ebay and he said it does work in the Samsung i730. I'm now asking if he'll refund if it doesn't work, but he said yes to all the previous questions asked here...he says it does get recognized, will read, write, and fill with info on the i730.

EDIT: He said the refund policy is as stated, and that he says it will work with the firmware upgrade for the Sd Cards. The ones he sells are made by Samsung it seems. ALSO they went down to 75 dollars or so at his site which I MUCH more reasonable than $150-$250 like they were in the past several months. I think I would like to pick one up when I get some money, as I barely have any room on my 4 GB SD currently as it is. Can anyone verify that they will work on the i730?

Are you ordering it for your i730? Is so, don't waste the money. I have tried many different 8 GB cards, and none of them have worked in the i730. However 4 GB cards (I have a 4GB AData card) work fine, and I have had zero issues with them.

What about the Samsung SD Cards? The guy who sells them said they do work for the i730.
