I've noticed that turning this on doesn't always seem to stick. I've turned it on, then found a had a voice mail (but no missed call, so the feature didn't work). I then tried *765, turned it back on. That was yesterday. This morning I thought I'd test things out and dialed *765 and sure enough it gave me the tones that it was just turned on.
What gives?

I noticed a user posted earlier that it works in Manchester, NH. Here I am in Amherst/Nashua (depends which way I lean) and it doesn't work ("Call can't be completed as dialed") ... BUT, recently I have been seening the 1x/EV icon show up randomly and more frequently. It isn't on right now ... but I have heard rumors that they have a goal to get it up and running in Southern New Hampshire this summer. And the appearance of that EV icon backs up those rumors...
First, Let me apologize for certain expressions i used on this site prior to my being temorarily banned.
Now, for the topic at hand. While I'm surfing the web whether via the phone or by tethering, it has always been that if any incoming call comes in, I hear the first one or two rings, and thats all. The data session doesnt seem to be interrupted but the call doesnt come through. If I try to pick up the phone on the first ring the call just goes straight to VMail (I guess while switching from EVDO or 1X to dormant mode -- which takes about two seconds).
I wish that there were some way to be able to keep surfing the web via EVDO or 1x (uninterrupted) while at the same time be able to recieve calls and talk on the phone (like we can do with SD's wifi/phone hack).
You won't ever be able to surf the web and browse the web at the same time using 1x/EVDO with the i730. 1x/EVDO takes the radio portion of the phone to be able to browse, and if you are using the radio to talk, then it's unavailable for data. CPOP is similar to what EVDO offered, which is basically call waiting for data, which gives your phone the ability to recieve calls while online, and if you take them, it puts your data on hold, and let's you talk, and then goes back to data.
The reason the WiFi/Phone hack for WM2003 worked (and no hack is needed with WM5 as it's not a broken feature and works out of the box), is there are two radios, one for data/voice, and one for WiFI. So you can be using both radios at the same time while on a call because wifi has nothing to do with your voice radio, it is it's only radio. Verizon originally disabled using WiFi and Voice at the same time in WM2003 because of the extreme battery drain, but with complaints, and the fact the WM5 won't hard reset on a dead battery, they have re-enabled that feature.

Need help setting up your i730/i830 or other WM2003/WM5 Phone, as well as the other hacks I have done, check out the MRailing Guides and Links
Just tried *765 on the Jersey Shore, got the 3 quick tones.
Workin here.
Wont be in NYC till Monday, so cant test there till then. Any NYC people get this workin?
With CPOP working now, I would love to just leave my device on 1X for push email (1X uses alot less batery), and switch to EV for browsing when needed.
The only problem is with SD's Dialparser hack there's no way to access the old Hybrid menu.
Can anyone help figure out the shortcut to access the hybrid menu?

I see. Too bad they couldn't just have a seperate radio for 1x and another for EVDO in one device. That would solve the problem right?
with my device however, like I said, When a call comes in whether on EVDO or 1X, I can't take the call. If I try to pick it up, while switching to dormant mode, the call doesn't come though. people who've called while I was surfing say they hear the line just ringing as if I was just ignoring their call and letting it ring.

Dual radio's would seem to solve the problem but I dont think anyone makes a device like that. With how cell phones work there would be 2 ESN numbers and basically 2 cellphone numbers/bills/etc. We can dream ..

If I'm in an EV area (most of the day) I can pickup a call if I'm quick enough. Seems the caller gets roughly 2 rings before I get the ring on my side so if I'm too slow it goes to voice mail but it does work.
Prior to the introduction of CPOP I would miss calls when in the basement of the office beacause its only 1X down here. Now with the CPOP I can answer calls, again if I'm quick enough due to the slight delay in making the data connection going dormant/disconnect.
Very cool stuff ..

Any way to speed up the dormant mode switch process? Cuz it's a hassle when I'm toward the end of an important but long download and I get an important call that I have to take. it'd be nice to just be able to do both. besides i wouldn t mind payin for two seperate lines(ESN's) as long as each only cost half the price as for my current bill. That way I'd still be paying the same price for more convenience.
