Ok i cant get past the reset part. I am using a macmedia cable and resetting as oon as i press the ok button. just like when i installed sdwm5. and i cant get the reset going
Installed VZWM5 today from a clean machine; install went great. Went to downgrade the phone back to YH25, installed PST, didn't see the I730 because I forgot to install the I730 update for PST , installed, rebooted, soft reset my phone, got the modem drivers to detect, soft reset the phone and rebooted the machine for good measure -- man, I've tried every combination of rebooting possible, I think.
Every time I set the phone to USB modem and get into PST, doubleclicking on the I730 gets me a "Debug Assertion Failed" error. I found one hit for that error by searching the forum, but the guy that asked never got an answer. I'm pretty much mystified. Any ideas?
EDIT: So I paid a little more attention to the error, and am now more confused. The debug assertion that failed was in dlgdata.cpp, line 43. Now, it's been a while since I did any MFC coding, but IIRC, that has *nothing* to do with I/O at all -- dlgdata deals with the managing of UI objects, doesn't it?

Need help setting up your i730/i830 or other WM2003/WM5 Phone, as well as the other hacks I have done, check out the MRailing Guides and Links
I degraded to YH25 and tethering work as before with SD WM5, but I have noticed that the BT connection with my moto820 is now skipping. I just received them and have only used them with the official VZ WM5 release (including the phone), then they worked without skips.
Is there something in the Phone stack that would cause this?
Also, check to see if you have allow devices to discovery checked. There should be nothing with the new radio that would effect that. Im streaming from shoutcast to my 820's as I type this. Have not a a single skip in several hours of listening.

Mrailing,
Thanks for the shortcut -- didn't know that. That seems to also add the UART tab, which isn't available from the regular Data Connection menu; pretty cool. But that's not actually needed for this, right? B/c other than that, they seem to do the same thing. So I still don't know what's wrong.
abuttino,
Yes, I added the DLL support files. Otherwise, I wouldn't see the phone in PST at all, right?
I have Speed Step installed, but I should have looked, the auto discovery was set on the phone. I have noticed that there are skips anytime there is any device with auto discovery on within range, laptop or even the i730 itself.
I'll check next time before I call for help.
