How to upgrade to Official for those that are using the SD WM5 rip

For those that are using the WM5 rip you can still uprade your radio and OS with this release. The OS is the same build you have, but, it will still flash it anyways.

To upgrade copy the attached file over the existing one in \windows on your phone. Then launch the installer.

Also the speed problem still exist (same rom) so you will probally want to use autostep. If you had a backup from your SD WM5 there should be no reason you cannot restore it. I did.

Dave-

Just to understand, you have in fact done this upgrade, and all is well? Also, besides the speedstep issue being present do you see any limitations that have been set forth? For example can we still you wi-fi and phone at the same time, and tethering and such?

What does the radio stack have exactly?

Thanks for all your help, glad to see you on here tonight. It's so quiet you can hear a pin drop....

Later....

Spence

Yeah, I did the load. It is exactly the same as the build we have been using. All issues would still exist. The difference is there is a new radio stack and of course you have the MITs load image now.

It's AMAZING how dead the forum is, given the sudden news... I've downloaded the installer and this file, but I've got work quite early tomorrow, so I've got to wait on the upgrade. But I am quite excited indeed.....

Excellent, well I shall take the plunge with my SDWM5 device. What does the radio stack contain? New firmware or such to talk with the towers?

Thanks again,

Spence

Seriously right? I was thinking about dll files and bootloaders, and dave gives us a .txt file with a version number in it. Sweet.

Props to Super Dave!

Anyone having any problems overwriting the versionid.txt file? I have tried it both with the phone and with activesync. I have tried renaming the file and unsetting read only......???

Use Total Commander to replace the file. I just flashed and it was very painless. Just replace the VersionID.txt and run the installer. Does it in about 10 minutes or less.

WOW!! This is awesome news after the day I've had.

Just got home from dinner with friends and here I see an update for the "Official" WM5 release? It's 12:15 here in Cali, and I guess sleep will NOT be something I'll be doing right now. LOL

Many congrats to SD, and MRailing for all the work you guys have done, as well as all the contributors to this forum. If I were wearing a hat right now, it would be off to ya.

*evil grin* Time to play with the phone and get this bad boy installed.
