A2DP with wm5

Attached is a cab that will install A2DP on your WM5 i730. The files are based off the tornado rom and have a custom loader added. Autostep at 520 is highly recommended as this is highly cpu intensive. This cab was tested from a hard reset with nothing but it and autostep installed. It was paired with a moto 820. Performance was very good with very little if any skips, your results may very.

To install delete any existing Stereo Headset pairings. Copy the cab to your phone, install it and soft reset. Go to BT setttings and pair the device. It should auto connect, if it does not hold click on the device name and click set as wireless stereo.

I am not sure if the dll's will be overwritten if you tried installing the old cab. They should and please post if you have any issues.

Also, media button controls only work in Windows Media Player. All audio is redirected to the headset though, so any app can stream to it.

Good work, SD.

My question is will this work with any other program resident or will the phone function?

I am curious what device uses this sucessfully?

Seems like hardwired offers all the advantages or more, except for those pesky cables.

All phone functions continue to work fine. BT headsets also still work. With my 820, i can switch back and forth between the 2.

To my knowledge, this is the first successful implementation of this a2dp rom extraction on a non-HTC device. Once again, a hearty congratulations are in order.

Man, I wish you would have waited until more people report in. I'm very happy with performance, but, different loads may mean different skips. From a hard reset it was almost flawless though. I guess you could always send them back if your not satisified.

For the lame and slow on this board (me in particular), who makes the 820s?

That's it... (accepting the fact that there will never be a camera) the phone is now complete! Thank you, SD!

What did you need to do to get it working?

Other a2dp headsets should work fine, that is just the one that I am using.

scott,

The driver was not activating on startup, so I wrote an app to manually start it.

Weeee!!! I can report that TCMP is playing the movie Serenity and the audio is going to my A2DP headphones (meant for ipods but they work w/ anything that supports A2DP)

easily played 3 minutes of video w/o any audio skips what so ever.

Oddly, the 2nd and 3rd time's im trying the audio is still just fine but TCMP doesn't play video, just shows a single frame. I'll mess around more and report back later.

Yes my A2DP ipod headphones work just fine.

That explains the few seconds longer it takes to start up.

AVRCP compatibility

SD:

Excellent and diligent work, as always. I'm impressed, yet again!

No more being chained to my i730 any more. I'm always worried I'm going to bust that stupid proprietary audio plug.

Does your current build support AVRCP? Or is that an additional piece of work on top of this amazing feat?

Let all those with i730's yearning to be free of wires...FREE!

TCMP at 520 mhz playing a xvid file off my slow SD card can BARELY play at 100 %. Infact w/ A2DP on benchmarking results in the file playing at only about 90% instead of several hundred percent.

SD is right, its very CPU intensive.

Yeah, not doubt its a hog. Works great for me on audio, even streaming shoutcast. I dont have any vids so I can't speak to that, but, the speed will definitly be slower.

Basically it seems to drop a few frames here and there so a warning to anyone encoding videos, think low bit rates. If you go too high youll likley have large frame drop.

Dave,

Is there any issue uninstalling? Will there be an option in "remove programs"?

Last week, I updated my X50V with an A2DP Hack (from XDA-Developers) and now I think I need a hard reset (no backup - when will I learn... ) Works - sort of, but REALLY skips. Screwed up my today page, but I fixed it with a different theme. It also seems to cause some instability, so I want to remove it but I don't believe there was an option to remove it. Anyone in the same situation? Any thoughts?

If this works on the i730 - without skipping, that would be awesome...

Now, the only thing left is for the i730 is a WM5 Numlock (and a camera )

Big Thanks!

Jeff
