Well I was waiting for SD to release a list of the new DialParser codes, and I know many of you have been asking about this. I was chatting with SD yesterday and he pointed out dialing
**87284 (**UPATH) does the same thing as the old **7284 (**PATH). I know this shortcut is in the Settings area, but if you are like me, it's quick and easy to just dial the numbers.
I think they renamed this for a simple reason. The data connection screen you get to with the shortcut, only allows changing the USB modem/actuvesync connection, where the **UPATH, let's you also change the UART settings, so thus, they added a "U" to the front of it. At least that's my thought...
Enjoy.

How does one map buttons to control panel items (like the data connection applet)? I found the "dataconnection.exe" program in the windows directory, but it doesn't do anything. I want to map one of my buttons to open the data connection settings. I know third party apps can that, but there has to be a way to do it with Windows. Of course I guess I can just map the upath dial code to speedial, but the question remains for other control panel applets.
There is a dataconnection shortcut in the MRailing Tools Pack. Put it in the programs directory (\windows\start menu\programs), and it should show up as an available program.
See if that works.

Has anyone dialed out with WM05?
I am getting a modem error.
Samsung Modem is Selected
Yup, I have the beastie "T-word" to answer this post. As you can see, it works for me.

Not sure what you are trying to say. Can someone explain.
1. I disabled my ethernet lan connection to my cable modem.
2. I typed **UPATH in the phone app of my i730 (lovingly named the beloved beastie, or just beastie for short)
3. selected USB modem from the resulting screen
4. Cradled the beastie and dialed VZW with a modem connection that I had previosly set up.
5. Opened Firefox, and navigated to this thread.
6. Answered the post to show that the "T-word" (we don't like to say tethering because VZW doesn't allow that) worked.
7. Disconnected the modem, and reset the phone to normal with the **UPATH command.
8. Re-enabled my network card and logged onto the forum using the cable modem.
BTW the phone now has a slick connection screen that shows throughput. Doesn't say throughput in WHAT though. Packets? Bits? Bytes? Don't know, it doesn't say. But whatever they are I recieved just over a million of them for the above excerscize.

The USB options makes sense.
What does the UART do ? I see two options to 'Switch serial path to PDA or Phone': PDA or Phone. Mine is set to the Phone by default.
I too am now unable to use my i730 as a modem after upgrading to WM5. I never had any problems at all before the upgrade. Now all I get is the 692 error message when I try to connect. Any help would be appreciated.
