i have reset the phone 5 times, and left my self messages to test things out. even after resetting the phone 5 times, and doing all kinds of things, the indicator is working correctly and saying that I have one voicemail. Very strange. My phone is still alive and working.
i left myself an additional voicemail msg. counts are still reading -8 in the registry. But the indicator is saying i have 1 msg (even though i really have 2). It seems like the indicator is not really talking to just the registry keys or something?
i changed all 3 of these "Count" keys from dword to multi-string binary. I have been testing, resetting, etc for about 6 hours now. I have totally disabled the voicemail indicator!! Can anybody please confirm this on their device too??!!
PLEASE NOTE! Only do this if you want to toally disable the voicemail indicators! After you do this, you will no longer get popup messages that you have voicemail! This is only useful for people who have Callwave or something similar, or you simply choose to not see the voicemail indicator for whatevre reason!

I fixed it completely. I just no longer use Verizon's voicemail, and only use CallWave for all my voicemails.

mrailing, is there a way to disable the verizon voicemail indicator while using callwave?
Even though i have callwave, the verizion voicemail indicator is still working in conjunction with callwave.
am i going crazy or just missing something?
You still have a stuck indicator, or a voicemail. Even if you have your voicemail with Callwave, someone can still leave a message on Verizon, if they leave it through the Verizon system, by entering their mailbox and sending the message without calling.
1. Disable Callwave
2. Check your voicemail
3. After deleting all messages, call yourself and leave a message.
4. Wait 10 minutes, do a soft reset, and then call your voicemail and delete your message.
5. Wait 10 minutes and if the indicator is still there, leave yourself another message but mark it as urgent, and then wait 10 minutes (soft reset), and call and delete it.
6. If it's still there, change the registry key mentioned earlier in this thread, and that should take care of it.
7. Once it's gone, re-activate Callwave.
Are you sure it's a voicemail and not a text message?

I have had this problem many times over recent years, and was always able to get rid of it, by sending myself messages and deleting them, using variations of *228, and soft resets, etc.
About two weeks ago I got one I couldn't get rid of until I found the registry hack in this thread.. THANK YOU!
As a related side note, I also found some other mail notification hacks that some of you might find useful:
..his purpose was to increase the frequency of the notification bubble, lights, sounds, but I'm sure with a little variation these things can probably be shut off as well

Seems to be a common glitch among VZW i730 users. Message icon stays
on after I delete my messages for about 2 minutes. I called VZW and asked if they intentionally resent the message text to my phone as a way
to "burn" my minutes. Note: Your message icon is activated by VZW as
a text message. I also asked VZW if this was a problem other PDA users were having, the rep told me that my incident was the only one on file.
Kind of makes you wonder............................
Pretty sure VZW has no dastardly plan to waste minutes on a 5 year old phone for only some people. This is a glitch somewhere.
I like the lyon solution, but it seems like an awful big footprint to edit 3 little reg settings.
Anyone out there know how to write a simpler program to do this (in line with a .bat file in windows or something) - or could we do it with a tool like Mortscript or something?
