SD WM5 Issues and Complaints - The To-Do Hacks thread
Well I thought I would start it. I already have complaints and issues with some of the "small" changes they have made. Not enough to change back, but just annoying little issues. Of course this may be related to not having the full load from Veizon, but this is my first observations of little hacks
1. Still no Number lock.
2. Remove the shortcut for call history and speed dials. You no longer can press send, and then press up to open the call history or down for the speed dials (or right or left).

I have loaded PhoneHelper, and the double tap caps still work, but the NumLocker portion does not. The Blue ok button to close bubbles still works.

Did I read right that sprite backup is not included? I've loved that program and wonder if I live without it. At 30 dollars its not inexpensive PPC software.

Sprite is not included, but if the battery dies on this, you are not suppose to loose anything.

Can the wireless manager on the today page shrink to one line like 2003SE? or can that be hacked over to WM5?
Can you get a clock on the top bar or only on the today page?
Yup, it's still there.

Sorry about that. I must have gone blind for a moment. I only saw the first question.
1X/EV icon is still there.
I don't know about the Wireless Manager. Right now my phone is doing it's first sync (and taking one heck of a long time). If I find the answer to this one, I'll post later.
As to the clock, there is a setting to show the clock in the title bar in all programs.

I am trying to use either the SPB Tech or SPB Silver Unitheme and they do not work when I choose them from the the today app. I have tried to copy it to both the root of My Docs folder as well as the \Windows folder with no luck.
Has anyone tried to load any external themes? Just curious if this is isolated to me.
One thing that is already driving me nuts is the fact that the number keys disappear during a call . . . how is someone who chooses not to program their voice mail password in supposed to key in their password. (I know, I know, don't say it, I know I can use the numbers on the keyboard, but I don't like those. using the numbers on the screen seems easier to me!)

If memory serves me correct the left soft button says "Keypad" to get the keypad back (I am in bed now).
I like the new buttons for speakerphone, notes, etc. But damn why mess with the call log that was the only thing like an ordinary cell phone in the old version. But so far my only caveat. Damn though PhoneAlarm crashed the phone for the third time. I guess I will give the beta a try before I uninstall it.
is there a way to disable the tray in the default today screen? this would be nice had they been able to integrate it with the menu below, but as is it takes up yet another line of the today screen for very little, as does the now annoyingly "two line" date item (can't tell me the day date and time in one line?).
The tray's usefulness is reduced by the new one-handed functionality.
what is wrong with MS (or is it Verizon)? Are they graphically retarded? It seems that they've lost no opportunity to waste today screen real estate.
I realize there are plenty of third party today skins, but the default should at least be reasonable.
Upgraded to WM5 and am in the process of setting up my email accounts and when I went into the options to select "Store attachments on storage card" I noticed that for my storage card it is actually showing my "SafeStore" and not my storage card.
Just to verify this I went ahead and selected the check box and sure enough I have my Inbox folder showing up under SafeStore.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Is there a way to tell it to use my storage card?
