Need your help, update the i730 FAQ

Ok, I decided to take on the task of doing a MAJOR update to the i730 FAQ, and I need your help to maybe make this a little easier. Some of the information in the FAQ is out of date, or items have been replaced by newer techniques, newer software, or more information has been learned.

There are also some key topics that haven't been implemented in the FAQ that should be there. So here is what I would like your help with. Read through the FAQ and list in this thread items that are deprecated (old, but still work, yet new techniques are available). List the Post Number here, and tell me either the post of the technique that replaced it (like PhoneHelper Replacing NumLocker). This will help me get some of those things cleaned up.

Next I need help compiling the information for the new items in the FAQ. Things like Removing the 1x/EVDO icon, Google Local, etc. What I need is for you to give me the link(s) for the thread that contains the information and the subject. List those here and I will do the compiling of the information. So for those of you who found something outside the FAQ and think it should be in there, now's the chance to get your voice heard and have it listed here.

I would like to do most of this update over the weekend and spilling in to next week, so the quicker you can list things the more helpful it will be to me.

So just word your replies with either "UPDATE" as the first word followed by a couple of blank lines and then the post number and possibly a thread or another post number in the FAQ with the update.

If it's something that's new, then list "NEW" as the first word followed by a few blank lines and then the subject and a link to the thread.

UPDATE

I will be also updating the "Instructions after a Hard-Reset", as I am Hard Resetting my i730 this weekend, and will post new instructions in the FAQ.

How about an FAQ on how to fix the "bad email" that sometimes occurs when using Wireless Sync?

FYI, I just updated this thread based on my most recent experiences.

UPDATE

There have been many threads on Voice Signal, so I will not point to any threads in the forum. Here is the correct version and build number and a link to the Voice Signal update site. I am also listing some optimal settings for VS:

Version: OIK 1949
[LVR: 5771.4]
Build: 0157
Device: i730

http://www.voicesignal.com/support/i730/index.php3

Optional settings adjustments:
Set speed up 2 notch, set reject more up 1 notch
Speak naturally and softly for the best results, especially when saying YES

Hi, Michael.

I just had another idea for the FAQs. How about adding an FAQ for frequently used abbreviations such as A2DP, EVDO, GRPS, AK2U (I still don't understand what these stand for, although I know what EVDO and GRPS are), etc.? You might even add such frequently used abbreviations such as BT (BlueTooth) and PA (PhoneAlarm). In other words, I'm thinking a dictionary of abbreviations would be very helpful, especially for us newbies....

NEW

The **PATH no longer works either because of a replacement phone, i830, or newer software on the i730.

Need to have a link directly to the dataconnection.exe file found in this attachment.

Update

In addition to the cases thread above, I would like you to add www.cases.com because this web-site provides few of above cases with excellent prices.

Why does my phone lock-up at night or after being in the charger for a long time?

http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?p=489871#post489871

(Michael, I would recommend adding this if you feel comfortable that having BlueTooth on while the phone is charging is the cause of the problem. I hope to do a follow-up post in the thread listed above after a few days of experimentation.)

Michael,

Raystream posted the pinout for the USB/charging connection in http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=68149 . Looks like valuable information for some of our more technically inclined friends.
