Check to see if you have software installed on the SD card. I have only experienced lockups with software that's installed on the SD card, and accessed regularly. I typically don't install the program on the SD, but might have some of the data residing on the SD card.

I think I have the same issue.

With me it will hang on the dial screen. If I try to "x" it closed I get nothing. So I just soft reset and things are fine. This happen with the SD card in or out. The only program that accesses the SD card is TomTom and that is not running at the time this happens.

The funny thing is (not like ha ha funny but just funny) I can still access other programs but I just cant close the dial screen.

It doesn't happen a lot.

This morning I completed a call (I believe by hanging up using the button on my BT headset) and set my phone down on my desk. About 1/2 hour later, I looked down at my phone and the screen was black. I tried using the slider to turn the phone back on, but nothing happened. I think I even tried pressing a couple of buttons, but still nothing happened. The only way I was able to get my phone working was to do a soft reset. Here's what's really weird: The call history does not show the last call I made.

I don't have any programs installed on my SD card. All of my programs other than PhoneAlarm (v. 1.26) run off SafeStore.

i get this too... i think i first noticed when i installed magic button. but i cant live w/o magic button so i just deal with it. it only happens a couple times a month for me. fortuntately with magic button i can force the dial screen to close. cause the dial screen shows up as a running application. also if you have magic button installed make sure the application isnt selected as "keep alive".

i get this pretty frequently too. what i have noticed is when i do the soft reset to revive the phone, before it loads to the today screen i see a few calendar reminders pop up requesting for me to snooze or dismiss. i have attributed most of these freeze ups to a combination of either voice command trying to announce the reminder or it trying to announce a call coming or multiple reminders going off at the same time. i would say that 95% of the time when my phone freezes on me, when i do a soft reset i get a calender reminder pop for an event in the past before it even loads to the today screen.

if youve got magic button installed, go to where the task manager application displays all the program icons that are currently active. press and hold the icon you want to see options for and you will get the options to:

Close [Application Name]
Keep Alive
Never Show When Inactive

Just make sure the phone icon doesn't have Keep Alive checked marked.

Oh okay got it thanks.

I think you're right about it being caused by Magic Button. Not a real problem.

This happens on occassion to me as well. (I don't use Magic Button) I do think it's a matter of how many things are happening at once, and then the processor (or whatever) freezes.

Although I've tried both Voice Commander and Magic Button in the past, I don't have them installed now (and hadn't had either of them installed this morning when my phone locked up). Here are the non-OEM programs I have installed (all installed in SafeStore other than Phone Alarm)

PhoneAlarm 1.26
Wisbar Advance 2.4.0.1
Adobe Reader 2.0
eWallet 4.0.1
Mathco Loan
Photo Contact Pro 4
Pocket Informant
pPod
PH Regedit
SK Tools 2.3.24.0
Total Commander

I also have Wireless Sync installed in SafeStore. My Voice Signal current is run from Main Memory and is the most recent version.

I believe the only programs that were actually running/open when my phone locked up were: PhoneAlarm, Wisbar Advance, Photo Contacts Pro, and WirelessSync.

Hope this might help us determine whether there is a common thread to these lock-ups.

Jay

No programs on the SD here, I get on a call, usually with the slider open, when done, I hit end, and nothing happens, then I close the slider and the screen gets locked cause I have it usually locked when the slider is closed. No magic button here either. This happens almost every call for me now.

hey WaKe, i actually dont have your problem. never come across it. ive never had an issue with not being able to hang up my phone. i answer with the slider open probably 99% of the time too. and i almost always hang up by closing the slider.

i recall in the past people had issues using the phone's native phone lock with the slider. maybe try not using the lock with the slider for awhile and see if it resolves your issue.

I have had similar issues with no success of troubleshooting. I had one i730 that would freeze up at times or just turn off. I swaped it out and have been ok. I have found that the i730 shuts off if it is subjected to any force. For example: if it is in the door handle of my vehicle and I close the door, this can be enough to turn the whole thing off. I have simply got in the habit of checking the phone all the time. I'm not real happy about it, but I can get by.

The current problem involves the phone freezing up. I cannot get or send calls or txt. The problem is I do not notice this untill I attempt to make a call. It freezes on the dialing screen and I have to perform a soft-reset.

I cannot discover at what point it actually freezes because it operates normally except for the phone. I do use the keylock almost constantly.

No SD card, no magic button. Installed programs are:
Phone Alarm, Total Commander - Regular memory
SBSH Weather, Freecell, Woorbook dictionary, and Lingvosoft Spanish Dictionary - all on Safe Store

Anyone who can diagnose this problem whould be much appreciated!!!

Start removing programs to see when it clears up.
I would start with PA.
