PhoneLock

Just posted the latest version of PhoneLock at www.sdsoft.net . This version should support all phones now. It also adds dynamic key mapping support. I'm still finishing the seperate config app, but, the app itself is working great. This thread is intented more for people who have used it on other phones and are familiar with it. I'll post more details on the changes soon.

Thanks,
Dave

SD, can you explain how to use this for first time users?

I installed it in safestore and I see an executable. I also see it running in my bottom taskbar. But I don't understand how to use it. When I click the icon it asks me if i want to exit.

thanks

This page http://www.sdsoft.net/xdaiii/xda.aspx has some general information on it. Im working on updating the docs for the new version. Basicaly powering off will autlock the phone and you can either click Un then Lock on the screen or press the calendar then contact button to unlock. The app will also display full screen caller information and can have custom button mapping. There is no config from the app right now, im still finishing up that part. It can be manually done from the reg, but, for now the settings are default settings that work well with the i730.

im not sure what you mean by "powering off" since technically you cant power off the i730... but after playing around with it, i found out by default if i press and hold the "back" button it will activiate phone lock. and it will unlock it. which is pretty cool. the back button being th ebutton between the send and end buttons.

id like to be able to still use photocontacts pro though for caller photo id since i paid $30 for it. so hopefully in your future revision you will allow us to disable the full screen caller information so that I can still use photocontacts pro to ID the call with a smaller image.

but so far this is HOT! its a great addition to the phone and i can finally start usimg my piel frama in my pocket again. thanks SD. where do we send donations again?

John,

Give SD some time to write it up.

Holding down the back button on the i730 locks the phone but does'nt power it off. It only turns the screen off. That mode is usefull if your listening to mp3's, etc. Sliding the power off slider actually locks the phone and sleeps it. If your phone is set to auto power off after a set time, it will also lock when it powers off then.

Nice work, SD. Couple of issues, however:
1. Prevents Phonehelper from launching.
2. disables the windows (start menu) key in the keyboard.

I sure would like to see the option to make it unlock as well when the SLIDER is opened. I love the slider. It would be a nice feature.

Even better, 2 options similar to the slider call answer, would be option to unlock when opened and separate option to lock when closed.

SD,

This is great. Thanks.

Is there anyway you could post a .cab file for those of us who want to download direct to the phone?

OK SD, Great program!

Couple of things I noticed. When I press calendar then contacts I got Pocket Informant’s address book, but the top bar was locked. When I tried to close PI or bring up the start menu or tapped any of the icons the beastie just beeped at me. Also the mic button wouldn’t work. Had to turn him off with the slider switch to get out of it.

What about Wireless Sync? Will that work with the phone locked? I noticed that ActiveSync on the USB cradle doesn't work with it locked.

jasonphillipstx suggestion about the slider would be great, but I understand that would really limit the marketability of the thing to just phones that have a slider. Still, I’d like to answer the phone just by opening the slider. I noticed that the slider brings up the un lock screen, do I need to un lock to hang up the phone? Perhaps you could call the unlock routine on answering incoming calls.

Is the default picture directory the same one that the app is in? I can see that I wouldn’t want to load too many pics into SafeStore. Somewhere on the SD card would be better; that way I wouldn’t need to fill up my valuable SafeStore with pics.

How hard would it be to also do ring tones similar to the way you handle the pics?

Last question; where do I send my money?

SD, i've also noticed that when the phone is "off" and locked and the END button is pressed and held that it will still turn off the radio. is there a way to stop this from happening? i love keeping the phone in my pocket with my piel frama case but the radio keeps turing off on me still and i dont even know it. so i keep missing my calls. thanks
