ESN switch w/ E815

Happy New Year folks. Got an e815 to swap out (from time to time) with my i730. VZW says they can't do the swap unless I cancel unlimited data -- which I'm not going to do!

Is this for real? Or have I been VZW'd? I thought the e815 could "do" EVDO.

Thanks

Actually you can swap but you have to remove your unlimited data since that feature is for pda phones. The E815 and other VCast phones have the VCast feature (PayAsYouGo or the $15 plan). The two features will conflict if you were to keep your unlimited data. Also starting this year, VZW is charging pple everytime they do an ESN switch. Double check this before you request this. So in a way you have been "VZW'D" which is better than being Sprinted or Cingulared.

Why would VZW start chaging for ENS switching?

Answer: Becouse they can.

I cant wait for another provider to get as good as network as Verizon. Then I will switch for good.

I agree the ESN charge is kind of petty coming from a consumer aspect. But coming from an executive decision, it is pretty smart. I believe they want pple to buy phones from their stores only. Since the percentage of pple signing up for cellular service will gradually reduce, what better way to balance the company's profit? This is one of the many reasons why they decided to charge for an ESN change....aaaaand I just highjacked this thread. (sorry)

I have two phones with Verizon W. the i730 and the new Razr. I like to swich them on the weekends.

How long for the wait for a good network on another provider? I would say within 18 months.

I feel that things are going to start to change for the better. Please take the time and visit my signature URL and feel free to add it to yours.

Call Verizon Customer Service number on a phone that is not one of the ones you are switching to or from. They will do it if you don't know how. Otherwise, there are instructions on the VZW site once you log in.
