I would have taken that list and filed a complaint.
Ask for either SMS2K or the "PDA SMS 2000 Allowance"
I just did this succesfully.
It took me about 2 minutes and I actually got an extremely halepful and friendly lady.
She told me that, while she was able to look up the SMS2K, the package was actually referred to as the "PDA SMS 2000 Allowance", so I would recommend asking them to look up both if you run into trouble.
This is what user forums are all about. This is the good stuff. I took the advice of all who came before me in this forum and placed my 611 call to Verizon CS.
First of all I decided to live dangerously and I called at 7:30pm PST, as most others advise calling during the day. As expected the CSR transfered me to the DSC department. I got a very helpful lady and then I began the verbal ballet necessary to get the 2000 SMS plan added.
At first she didn't know and I had to tell her SMS2K several times, and $0 PDA SMS Allowance..... finally she found it. But then she was uncertain whether I could add it to my line. And for all those who are wondering... when they ask you if you are running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 say YES. But all you newbie's may ask "What is Exchange Server?" - Don't worry about it, just say YES when they ask you this question.
The lady had to talk to a colleague/supervisor and they talked it out for what seemed like an eternity. Finally she agreed to do so. I have two i730's, one for my wife and me. She added the plan to both our phones and removed the $5 text plan that was already on there on both. Thanks to my fellow i730 users I saved $10 a month off my verizon bill, and I got 2,000 SMS a month. That is killer... I can't wait to tell my cousin, and all the other colleagues I convinced to get this phone.
Thanks again you guys.... it's the dirrrty i730 for life man..... Well at least for the next year or two......
"Hi..I'm not sure you can help me. My IT guy just called me and said...Greg you need to call Verizon and enable the SMS2K PDA SMS 2000 Allowance feature on your phone. It is critical I am able to send you system messages if our phones are down"
She said, "I know what your talking about and will activate it immedietely"

Thanks Guys!
you probably got a rep that already did some of us guys in here. lucky guy. wonder how many guys did her good in order or you to get it in so painlessly?
Holy crap! After no less than FIVE attempts and always being told they didn't know what I was talking about, I got snippy with them and told them I wasn't gettting off the phone until they figured it out. Miraculously, they figured it out and added it. Hmmm...

never fails.... they get "graded" on how many calls they take per shift, and if you tie up an hour of their time it puts their average in the ****ter for the day....

Actually you got 4000 sms a month. 2000 on each line.
i added this to my an a few weeks ago. I got to say that this has gone a long way to making thebad taste in my mouth that i jad after verizon took away my MOU and i had to add a data plan (unlimiyed). it didn't make sense for mw to use the data plan to avoid text meeage charges - that was more of a drain on verizons network than giving me the text message plan.
(also - got to say that having evdo in salt lake as of yesterday has really made that bad taste go away!)
I added this feature to my account over a month ago and just got my latest bill. They pro-rated my old text messaging plan and charged me overages for some text messages that I should not have been charged for under the 2000 allotment. I don't see the 2000 feature listed any where on my bill but it is still showing up on my account. Weird...I hope that I don't get billed for all of my text messages this month....

After looking at this thread I figured I would give it a shot as well. Just like those before me, the CSR claimed she had no idea what I was talking about, and that there is nothing in my plan that would give me the SMS2K package. She even said she spoke to a supervisor. The only thing that they could offer was a paid for SMS package.
I have the PDA/Smartphone voice/data bundle (unlimited EVDO/1x)? Anyone have any success getting this feature added to this particular package?
"Anyone have any success getting this feature added to this particular package?"
Umm..> Yeah.. Most of us that have posted through this 6 page thread.
You have to tell them about the SMS2K plan.. They should be able to find it in their system, but will require someone from the data support team to actually put it on your plan.
Call back again. Ask for a name and extension for the people you just talked to and then try again. Make up a record of people that were unable to help you and when you finally get it added (yes..the plan exists) I would file a complaint against the people that were unable to help you..
Oh..and BTW.. It took me 4-5 calls..I called them back this weekend and got the names and extensions of the people that were unwilling/unhelpfull and who were down rite rude and filed a complaint against each one of htem. . After I explained to the last guy about all my problems, he was more than wanting to take a complaint report from me...
If you guys have noticed, it takes anyone that has posted here, what seems to be an average of 3 times of calling to get someone to help out properly..
I suggest to anyone in the future who calls and tires to get this added to their phone to make a log. Who you taked to, time and extension. Any other info to help pin them down would be helpfull. I would then suggest filing customer complaint forms against each one of them
There are way to many people here that have reported back saying that the customer service person was rude and had no clue. Steps need to be taken to correct this action.
If everyone that receives bad service does this, maybe someday they will wake up.
Well... only 2 times for me... with the second time going directly to the Wireless Data Support team.
Spoke to a very nice gentleman by the name of Roger. Claims he was unaware of this package and sent out an email to his department letting others know of it. Package was added while I waited on the telephone. Took all of 5 minutes.
You can reach the Data Support department directly at:
866-788-9387
Option 2, Option 2, Option 2
As stated previously, let them know it is to sync to an Exchange server.
Many thanks to all those before me that were able to get it added.

I've seen this post here forever...glad I got to read it! Thanks for the money saving tip.
...& hey, did you notice the mods deleted the SLC EVDO post???? I guess they don't like EVDO, SLC, or my posts...probably the latter.
Thought contributing would be preff'd over leeching tho....
i tried it once but the idiot i spoke to didnt know what it was....
2000 text messages, is this 2000 in network or out of network txt as well? i am big on out of network texting and currently under the 10 dollar 250 out of network plan (which is still inadequate)
