I have that exact plan, the Core Choice 450 Business w\ Data and just got it added on yesterday. Call back. I originally called the business support number and asked to be transferred to WDTS. They gave me the runaround and I just said OK Thanks Bye. I called back 611, told a nice CSR exactly what I wanted and she had it on within 2 minutes. So they were probably bull****ting you. I'd call back till you get it.
I just called CS to try to get the PDA SMS 2000 allowance, the CS rep bumped me to a technical assistance rep (but not data support) it took him about 20-25 minutes to find the plan and activate it, and that was after I emailed him a copy of the screen shot posted earlier in the thread. He informed me that the plan is only available to those who have a: a pda phone, unlimited data, AND sync with an exchange server. He then asked me about our exchange server before he would activate the plan.

.... as I originally posted.
It's meant for Exchange only. They haven't bothered anyone sending and receiving the occasional non-Exchange message, but I am sure when enough people abuse it, it will get shut down and the greedy will spoil it for the rest of us.
I just got my bill with 584 text messages (yep, that's $58.40) and called about this right away. (These messages are computer generated alarm emails. We were setting a system up last month with a lot of testing. Expensive testing as it turned out.)
At first the rep said not such plan was available but I kept calling it other things and she put me on hold for a LONG time, came back and asked a few questions about my phone and as soon as I said it was Windows CE she said that was all she needed.
I got the plan and she started it from the beginning of this month to cover the 46 messages I had received.
Thanks for letting us all know about this feature.
It is possible, but again, they do remove any other text messaging from your account when you have this. Personally Verizon doesn't care if you have this plan, it's the same amount of data going across their system whether your server sends the SMS, or you send it.
In fact, I am sure Verizon would rather you use up your 2000 txt messages on "in-network" SMS to other users, instead of getting it from your server, that way they can charge you $0.10 per message for it.
Most of the users here that are adding probably don't have Exchange servers that they sync with, but they will also be using far less SMS messages than someone with an Exchange server. So really the people abusing it are the people using it for the legit purpose, or at least they are the ones taking most advantage of the 2000 messages.
Just something to think about....

I'm not quite sure I understand your point. Are you saying non-Exchange users use less messages so it hurts Verizon less than Exchange users that may use all 2000?
If that's your point, then you are incorrect. The volume of messages is irrelevant. The plan was created specifically for Exchange. That's what it is meant for and anyone that asks for this plan without an Exchange server, even for a few messages, is stealing. Just because it may only be .10, it does not change the fact that they are using the plan without meeting the terms.
That being said, I am not judging anyone specifically, but I am saying the same thing that always happens will probably happen here. A few rotten apples will spoil the bunch. Just like the EN-MOU abusers, those that don't use Exchange will eventually tick off Verizon enough that they will pull back and start charging, or scrutinize every message.
I tried three times today and one rep almost laughed at the thought of 2000 free sms messages. They were pretty firm about it not being free. Does anyone know the magic words or exact thing to ask for perhaps a code? I asked for the 2000 sms allowance and none of them could find it. I tried the Data tech and they kept on telling me to use wireless sync but I don't want a pc to be on 24/7 to monitor my email. Plus there are other email push servers that uses sms to trigger a sync such as notifylink which I may be testing in the future. I think we pay enough for data usage as it is. How did the successful people go about getting the sms allowance?

OK I had to call 3 times to get this added on. The code is SMS2K
GOOD GOD!

I just called Verizon support, asked them to add the 2,000 PDA SMS plan. She had never heard of it, so I had her ask her supervisor. 10 minutes later, it was on my plan and my $3 100 message plan was removed. I am glad that they are giving us text messages for free. You would think that it would be included for $109 per month!!!
If we have unlimited data, what kind of a brain does it take to include that without SMS in that price? I never understood that pricing model.

Yeah, it may be free of charge, but remember the actual reason for this package is not to hand out texts for free, it's for Exchange.

True, and I do use it for exchange, but it is my belief that these companies should not be nickel and diming their customers that spend $100+ per month on their service. When I first got a cell phone 8 or so years ago, text messaging was included in all plans. Then, when it became the new fad in communicating, the cell phone companies realized that they could be charging their customers to do this. The bottom line is that this is a feature that was, and should now be included with our service regardless. That is just my two cents.

Oh, yeah, I wasn't intending to single you out or anything of the sort. I think my $100+/month bill should include it as well, I mean, c'mon, I'm already paying $40 for data, include the texts with it... I remember having Unlimited texts with VZW for $4.99/month. Wow, the good old days..
