so i have read a couple post in this thread that some people have some success with getting credits on their account for previous months sms. i have been paying about $15/month since i got my i730 sept. of 05, so it would be nice to get that credit when i call about this. Anyone else having any luck with this?
I added this to my plan todayno prob...i stumbled on this thread by accident. Why isn't it a sticky?
If we stickied all the threads, and left them stuck, then we would have 10 pages of stickies. This was stuck at one time, and has since been dropped, since the first post and major discussion was over a year ago.

Some people were lucky enough to convince the operators of this. Your best bet would be to ask when this plan went in to effect and why you weren't notified. Then ask if they could possibly credit back any of the SMS payments you made since you have qualified for this plan. Key thing is being NICE. Second thing is when you first get them on the phone, ask them to repeat their name and any identification number or badge number, and which call center they are located in. If they ask why, say that your company requires this information to be recorded when talking to them. Thank them, be nice, ask how their day is, the nicer you are the more willing they are to help.
So once they locate the SMS allowance, and add it, mention that you Tech Support department (as mentioned earlier in this thread), suggested that you ask if they would be able to refund any of the payments you have made for your current SMS plan since you should have been on this one. Again be nice when asking.
If they don't help you, thank them for their time and adding the plan, hang up and call again, play dumb about getting a refund and try again and say that this was just added and your Tech support suggested you call back and ask about a refund. Keep calling until you get the most appropriate answer, or until you get tired.
Most likely they "might" refund you a few months, but some people have gotten lucky and received more. The only thing to do is try, and make sure you ask them for their information (they always seem more willing to help if you know their information AND use their name in the phone call)....

I just added this feature and this is how my account looks online. I see that I have the PDA SMS 2000. My question is is the original text message package supposed to be listed also?
Optional Features:
TEC INSURANCE
Streamlined Billing Video & Picture Messaging ($0.25/Message); Text Message ($0.10/message)
PDA SMS 2000 ALLOWANCE $0
Since this has been bumped Id like to add a warning. It seems like in the early stages of this offer if you went over your 2000 Verizon would overlook it and not charge, but this is NOT the case anymore. If you go over the 2000 you WILL BE CHARGED $0.10/Message. This happened to me last month so just a heads up.
Just called verizon and added this last night. Only took 3 minutes. She did say however that picture messages were not included and would still cost .25 each.
Ok, I've tried this at least 10 times over the last year, but I always get turned down. They used to say they knew nothing about it (even when I gave them all the codes and descriptions), and now they say it ended some time ago. What am i doing wrong???

Read each page of this thread, especially my posts, and mention is that your IT department told you to call. If they won't do it, ask them to check on it, since you have been requested to add it. If they don't know, say thank you and hang up. Also look at my posts about being nice, requesting their name and ID/badge number, and call center location. Did I mention to be nice. You will get a lot more if you request this at the beginning. It has taken a few calls to get it added to some of my clients accounts, and some have been added on the first call.. You just have to be patient and try it multiple times.

awesome. worked for me. first rep wasn't helpful so i just ended that call. the 2nd rep got it down for me in like 10 minutes. thanks pdaphonehome and everyone else here for the info! i just asked that my IT guy asked me to call and ask for "PDA SMS 2000 Allowance with a feature code of SMS2K". said it was added and i hope that's it. i'll check my account later.
edit: logged into my verizon account and under the messenging column:
PDA SMS 2000 ALLOWANCE $0
oh yeah..don't forget to dial *288 and press 2 to update your phone with the new feature.
just did this - call 800.922.0204 and follow the prompts for tech support/PDA/all other PDA so you get the data center. i can attest, they do not jump right up and say 'yes, i'll add that right now', here's how my conversation went:
me: my IT guy said we're going to be getting our exchange mail in a new way, 'always up to date' or 'AUTD', are you familiar with this?
him: mmmm... i think so...
me: well he said i could get something called "PDA SMS 2000 ALLOWANCE", do you know what that is?
him: ahhh... yes.
me: ok, so can you add that to my account? is tehre a charge?
him: no, it's fine. it's free... just give me your phone number again.
me: xxx-xxx-xxxx
him:...OK, you're all set.
my question - i do not actually use AUTD, will this give me 2000 free regular TXT messages, or do they know what kind? did i just waste 3 minutes?

Well, I have never used exchange on my phone and I have had it right when it came out and this "feature" shortly after. Only email I ever do is manually send and receive when I am away from my computer for a while. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.
I tried the PDATP plan today after the customer service rep called to tell me that my i730 was not on the way because i did not include a data plan. I said that i didn't want a data plan and he said i needed to. So I said whatever and included the pay as you go. After he said that, I told him about the PDATP plan and he put me on hold and came back to no avail.
A part of it was my fault because I didn't have the paper work in front of me and I said PDAPT instead of PDATP (OK, I guess that would be all of my fault). But anyway I will try again once I get the phone. So Silly!!!
I think I will love this forum.
Hey mrailing, why do you seem so streesed out. I mean you are and seems the man on this forum with updateds and answers and all other things but you seem to be angry. Maybe its just me. Thats what I just feel. But all in all, thanks for all your guidance M. Really. Much appreciated. I will follow all of your steps to the tee with this i730.
This worked like a charm for me!! this forum is the balls bay-bee!

Thanks Mark for the reply to this.
Some days are stressful, but I try not to post on those days. I volunteer my time here, and have a full time job running my own IT business. Sure I am short with people on some posts, but that's when I search for a single word that they are looking for, and bang find it in the first page of results, or I know for a fact that it is currently being discussed and it's on the first page of the forum, or they ask a question in a thread without reading that thread... Then I can be a little short with people, but I am not stressed. I do this for fun, and knowing that a few people get some help out of it.

Well, I've tried five times and had no luck. Some of the people I talked to are pretty clueless, though they usually TRIED to be helpful.
I'm friendly to them, and they are friendly in return, but.....
