I just got off the phone with them and they added it. To make sure I logged into my account via the web and saw it posted there. I just used the screen shot that was posted here earlier and said I wanted the PDA SMS 2000 allowance. The rep switched it and back dated it for me to the beginning of the month.

Well, after MANY calls to CS to get the sms2k added to my account, I finally got it done.
Last month I was charged an extra 15 bucks so this will be great.
Anyways, I got fed up with CS acting as if they didn't know what the heck it was. I just called up Data Support and he called CS and had it added for me.
So, that is another route to try for those that haven't had any luck.
I finally pulled the trigger went and picked up the i730 last week and when I asked about the plan at the Verizon store they were dumbfounded. They checked in the back with the "specialist" that said that it didn't exist.
Got home, called up the DTS group and they had it up and running in less than 5 minutes.
Save yourselves the headache and follow the directions that are in the thread mentioned below.
I thought this thread would be worth a bump! every now and then. I don't have this plan but when I had my kyo7135 I called and complained about getting junk sms messages... they added a 100 messages a month to my plan at no cost... I may upgrade..

This plan is still pretty useful. Now that I'm on the WM5 push thing I use the SMS plan for subscription services. Weather updates,News,Junk stuff but sometimes decent info.

'Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.
Just received 1 year of credit for sms plan I previously had. 1200 bonus minutes that won't expire for 1 year, and $155.40 + taxes and surcharges credit on my next bill for overages.
A lot of trouble and multiple phone calls, but well worth it in the end

Glad someone bumped this, I am going to have to inquire about this myself.
Right now, my old txt/video plan is still on my phone, and because of this (as I read in other posts) when someone sends me a picture I get an error instead of the link to the photo because I have a picture messaging plan!
Very interesting....these forums are a good thing...
You can't add this plan with Pay As You Go, it's only available with the "Unlimited" plan. This is because this plan is meant to help with syncing wireless information with servers that still use the txt messaging to initiate the sync. This is NOT meant to just give you free txt messages, it "should" only be added if you plan on syncing with an Exchange server prior to 2003 SP2, and you plan on syncing all the time, with unlimited data.
So unless you have unlimited, they will NOT add it. (or at least should not add it).

But the only difference between me and you is I use wifi to connect and you use EVDO. What difference does it make if your email is pushed through EVDO or wifi? I don't see how it really matters.
This is a benefit of the Unlimited Plan. You don't pay $45/month, you don't get the 2000 SMS plan, it's Verizon's requirment and is part of the plan. Verizon is in the business to make money, and expects you to use their services, and since they want you to use their unlimited connection at $45/month, and they know you want to sync, then they offer a 2000 SMS plan to those people that have Exchange prior to 2003 SP2, or that those IT departments don't have the "new" push setup.
If you use some other means than Verizon's to sync, then they are under no obligation to "give" you 2000 SMS messages each month since you aren't giving them anything. If you want 2000 SMS messages, and don't want to pay $45/month for unlimited data, then you will pay for the 2000 SMS messages, it's as simple as that. It's a perk of unlimited data to get the SMS 2000 Allowance, but it isn't given on a whim, as you can see by reading this thread. This is "meant" for people with a specific need, namly those who sync with Exchange "the old way" and those who have unlimited data. If you don't fit that, then you shouldn't get it. The kicker in their system is the unlimited data plan, and to receive this service "free" you MUST have the unlimited data plan, and if you do have it, and have the SMS 2000 allowance, and drop the unlimited data, you will also drop the SMS 2000 Alllowance....

I just had it added to my account with no problems last week... I just gave the CSR the number mention in the other thread and in 30 seconds she said "Okay its been added. Is there anything else I can help you with?" Maybe it just depends on which rep you get when you call.
I was told this plan was added last year, when i just spoke to a rep they said "they can no longer add this plan to your account"
even though i was supposed to have added it a year ago.
Whats going on?
is verizon no longer offering this plan?
As mentioned MANY MANY times in this thread, you will most likely have to call back MANY times to get this to work. I suggest you read the thread from the beginning to get all the tips you need when calling, and plan on spending some time on the phone, as many of us had to call more than once to get it added. Take the time and read the posts.

I was able to successfully get this added today on the first call, I will add that I was bounced around a couple of times, but in the end, it worked. In the following thread http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/pdaphone-discussion/68752-verizon-wireless-get-2000-free-text-messages-unlimited-data-2.html the code did not work, they said that a # code did not mean anything to them, however, they called Tech Support and they were able to assist, of course, Tech Support was where I started and they sent me to Customer Service...either way, they say it is done!
