On all of my older phones my time would automatically change when I travelled between coasts. I noticed on the 730 that this is not the case. Is there a setting I should have set so that this happens, or do you have to do it manually every time you travel?
Does not automatically change but if you click the date/time on the today screen you can switch to a traveling profile, this also adjusts all appointments, so every appointment you put on your calendar you need to put in YOUR time zone.
This is the reason it doesn't automatically update, as it doesn't know what timezone you set your appointments up in, so you need to manually adjust the time zone.

I'm not sure what I did, but I flew from my home (midwest) to Atlanta, looked at I730 in the airport noticed that the time get get shifted an hour ahead. Then I had to rent a car and drive to Alabama. within 5 minutes of crossing the state line, the time changed.
(I only noticed the time because I was on the phone, and when I hung up it was an hour back)
It's not intuitive to me to enter all appointments in my home time zone, even if I'll be in a different time zone. I enter them in the local time for that location, and ToolBox makes the adjustment for me.

I dont see the need for this software when mrailing's post handels the problem.

No problem. You'll just have to remember that when you make an appointment for San Francisco at 8am, you have to enter it as 11am because you're currently in New York. It's just easier for me to enter it as 8am, and run the ToolBox utility when I change time zones.
I think some place I have read that the next version of WM, WM5 is suppose to have timezone support, so you set the time up and choose the time zone for that time, and it will automatically offset. I might be wrong about this, as I have read so many rumours on it that I have been having a difficult time figuring out what's real and what's fake.
My biggest suggestion is to just make sure you always put appointments in the time zone you are going to be handling that appointment in, if you want to switch time. That way when you switch your visiting time, everything works like it is suppose to, otherwise reminders will not work correctly.

I think your orgininal suggestion (above) is the way to go for now.

So, I'm guessing even though I've found this hack, it's still not a good idea due to all of the issues mentioned above and in the other time zone threads...
"Timezone and time update
In the branch HKLM\Software\OEM\?PhoneSetting Change the value of the Key "?ShowTimeZonesPage" to value of 1 (dword). Close your registry editor (no reset required) and tap START-SETTINGS-PHONE, there should be a new tab where you can automatically set the phone to get time and timezone information from the network. Really useful for me as I do extensive travelling. Tested on WM5"

Just enter the time in other time zones adjusted for the time zone currently on your phone.
e.g. - If you are in Chicago and have a 1 PM in LA, enter it as 3 PM (the time it will be in Chicago), and when you switch time zones on the pda part of your phone to Pacific Time, it will appear at 1 PM.
PDA and radio times have to be kept synchronized by the user.
Also, Outlook can display mutiple time zones on the calendar, which may help you make the correct calculation.

Have you tried this yourself? I can't seem to find the OEM folder. I have tried it on my 3125 and it's there but I can't find it on the i-730. If you tried this, did it work?
I did NOT try it. I didn't have the time or energy to deal with the potential of all of my appointments getting messed up, and it isn't [i]that[i] major of an issue for me. Just thought it might be interesting if it would work.
