FIx for must place data mode to dormant 1 (updated 11-3-05)

Here is the first attempt at this issue (updated 11-03-05 to v.02.

Copy the attached dll over the one in your windows directory and soft-reset.

The dll has been updated to v.02.
The app now cleanly disconnects without using the end key. This means voicemail pauses will now work correctly.

The following dial launches are now included also.

**7284 Data path
**772 Service mode without prompt for code
**492743 Hybrid setting
**33284 Debug Mode without prompt for code
47*68#13580 CDMA Test Mode
**73 DLL version

I'm still looking into placing the phone into dormant mode.

,Dave

I wanted to add:

If you re-read his post, this is testing software. Please test and post your results/problems. Also NOTE, that he says:

Quote:
Also, this replaces the existing dialparser so none of the diaplad app launches are going to work. IE. ##path etc. It's easy to put them in the custom dll, but, for testing i've left them out.
This means that some functionality of the phone is GONE in this version and "should" be added back, but for the time being it's not here. I just wanted to add this because I didn't want to read 30 posts about people complaining that they can't use their phone as a USB modem any longer.

You can still use your phone as a modem , you just need to access the link directly.
The attached shortcut will do it.

Way to go Superdave, you're my hero. It's working great so far, no bugs that I've found. I'll keep using it and see if I find anything, but so far it has been working as advertised. It will be nice when it makes it dormant, but at least I don't have to take my phone out while driving because my call didn't go through on my BT headset.

Am I right in thinking that you dont need this fix if you are in an EVDO area?

No. You still need it. I am in an EVDO area, but when I go to place a call with an active data connection, I get the error stating I must make it dormant first. With the fix, you no longer have to do that, it does it automatically.

I did find one bug. I have my voicemail in the Phone setting set as #86#p#p(password)# so it will dial the voicemail #86, then pause and enter my password and #. With the dialparser, it will dial the #86 when I press and hold 1, but doesn't enter the password automatically anymore.

You need to open the windows directory with a registry editor. I use and recommend both Total Commander and PHM regedit. Both are free and work great.

jpurv and mnudel,

Actually this has nothing to do with a registry editior.

What you need to do is sync your phone, open my computer (on the computer, not the PDA), double click on Mobile Device, go to the \Windows directory and copy the dialparser.dll into that \Windows directory on the Mobile Device from your computer. You DON'T delete the file first just copy over it, it will ask if you want to replace it, and you say YES, and then it works.

See the original dialparser.dll is in ROM, which is READ ONLY MEMORY, which means you can't write to it unless you are flashing the ROM. The way Windows Mobile OS works is it first looks for the File Name that is requested from RAM, also called Main Memory (which is the volatile memory and the memory you are placing the new dialparser.dll file in when placing it in the \Windows directory), and if it can't find the file in RAM it looks in the ROM.

This file overrides the file in ROM (doesn't delete it or replace it, just makes the OS use the new one instead of the old one).

You can't see the file from the built in File Explorer on the Phone, yes TotalCommander can see it, and your computer can browse to it provided you can see hidden files and folders from the Folder Options on the computer.

Keep all of these things in mind as this is how almost ALL the Hacks are done on the phone and it's the common use of the File System for ALL Windows Mobile devices (Smartphones, Pocket PCs, etc.)

Also when you get done replacing the file, Soft Reset your phone.

Hi Superdave..

I bought 700$ for this PDA.
Hopefully that it work in another overseas operator.
I can not connect both in 1x or EV mode.
Always "DORMANT MODE".
Have any suggestion, how can we change the PRL for this Samsung i730.
?

Fix work great. It would be much more usefull if it bring phone in dormant mode rather than disconnecting data.. or reconnect data mode after call is finished would do the purpose as well.
Direct link to Dataconnection.exe (**PATH) or the shortcut SD provided does'nt work.
